They knew they were taking a moderate risk in drafting a guy who has already had 2 season ending surgeries in the 4th round, so when they saw value at TE in the 6th, they decided to double dip. We'll have to see how McLachlan does in the role. I doubt he'll be anywhere near as good of a run blocker, but hopefully he can perform that role well enough to justify not giving Gesicki any run blocking snaps. For what it's worth, his NFL draft profile does say that he has "Active hand work after contact to extend his block sustain," and he "puts in the work to get backside cut-offs and climb to the linebacker." So that's something :) RE: Gesicki - TheLeonardLeap - 11-04-2024 (11-03-2024, 07:12 PM)Nicomo Cosca Wrote: 173 yards over the last couple games. I’ll certainly take that. Yeah, he's clearly got more in the tank than I thought, which is a nice surprise. RE: Gesicki - Wyche'sWarrior - 11-04-2024 (11-03-2024, 11:18 PM)BengalsBong Wrote: Chase is better no question. Mike G looks like a large WR out there so we will miss Alls blocking ability as an all around option at TE. Maybe Tanner Mac can step in and show us why he was called "Baby Gronk" ? Any news on All? Im worried hes out for a long stretch or for the yr RE: Gesicki - Frank Booth - 11-04-2024 too much optimism here lol they’re going to have draft another TE RE: Gesicki - Wyche'sWarrior - 11-04-2024 (11-04-2024, 11:40 AM)kalibengal Wrote: Mike G looks like a large WR out there so we will miss Alls blocking ability as an all around option at TE. I suppose they could ignore the position in the draft and sign another TE in free agency to continue the rotating door at the position. Did you not see the "Burrow Death Stare" he got on the sideline when he pranced in front of Joe? It's going to be a long time before another ball is thrown his way unless Browning is in. He's got a lot of nerve thinking he is going to sit next to Burrow anyway. Even Chase rarely sits with him during games. I seen him sit right next to Burrow earlier this season while using a tablet he was not even getting snaps then. Everyone got a hard look from Burrow today he was not a happy camper. His football IQ is invaluable as well and he's still playing at an extremely high level. I'm all on board with another contract for him. I hope they bring Hilton back. He was undrafted coming out I believe, and that dude is great Nickle/slot. I hope the FO do not let him walk too. It would make me sick. Joe even sat back down after Burton got up and left. RE: Gesicki - kevin - 11-05-2024 (11-03-2024, 07:05 PM)Whacked Wrote: Having a decent year. Kelce seems to have a supernatural ability to get open, combined with a QB with whom he has great chemistry, and a coach that is the best in the business. Mike has better pass catching tools than Kelce, a great QB that he is developing a chemistry with. He probably won’t reach Kelces knack for getting open, but does he have to in order to contribute as much to this team as Kelce does for the Chiefs? Really helping out in the passing game. Really like Mike. Expecting Gesicki to just get better as the year goes on gaining chemistry with Burrow. And keeping Hudson was very good move, he played very well last season when given reps, actually graded out well in run blocking... McLachlan hoping can fill in some also.. McLachlan I thought was more pro ready than All but then All played and played very well and McLachlan was the hurt dude on IR and the PS. I like McLachlan's film a ton, very good pass catcher and (can block unlike Hudson). Gesicki has 3 games of 70+ yards through 9 games. There have been games where Chase has had little production too. It happens. But can they have occasional games where they really put on a show? That's an impactful player. RE: Gesicki - rfaulk34 - 11-06-2024 (11-06-2024, 11:56 AM)ochocincos Wrote: A few games maybe, but he also has been the most productive receiver some games. Also Mixon and Perine were good receivers I swear im not trying to take away from Gesicki's year RE: Gesicki - Whacked - 11-06-2024 (11-05-2024, 05:30 AM)kevin Wrote: At this stage of his career he is better than All or Sample....The Ravens up next and they over play the run so much, they are suckers for the TE pass.
