So more money on the Squealers will, as you correctly point out, force the oddsmakers give the Bengals more points, therefore driving the line closer to even. Maybe I'm misreading you PV, but right now the Bengals are getting 2.5 points. If Squealer homers eat that up then the Bengals will get more points like 4 or 5. This going away from even, not towards it. The line would be something like Steelers -5 RE: 2005 all over again - Luvnit2 - 01-04-2016 (01-03-2016, 11:34 PM)Billy_Bengal Wrote: Bravo! Which is why Vegas has us as an early 3 point dog. 12-4, division champs, at home...and you're the underdog. Tells you all you need to know. Vegas makes money on the juice and really does not care who wins the game. Their job is to generate the most action and this will do it. Vegas is wrong as much as they are correct with winners and point spreads. The line is not a prediction of the result, it's a prediction of how people will bet. A 'public' team like the Steelers will usually get more action on their side. I thought you were a reasonably senseable person from the gameday threads, but now I know!! I called no one a coward. I am just able to seperate this team from past teams. Yes having AJM will make it harder .... But being healthy all over and them being hurt does make a difference. Plus heck they are struggling to win a playoff game as well? RE: 2005 all over again - Shake n Blake - 01-04-2016 Not sure if it's been mentioned, but Bengals/Steelers started as a "pick em". Overwhelming action on the Steelers forced Vegas to switch the Steelers to 2.5 point favorites. Judging by those odds (started as a pick em, now 2.5 point spread), it looks like Vegas thinks the game could go either way. The game could go either way. I expect to be on an emotional roller coaster all game long. I'm glad someone found the words to put you in your place. Insanity is a good adjective. Then the Ravens should have realized they couldn't beat the Steelers with their 4th QB, starting receiver, and starting RB out, huh? |
