They should just offer him a $10-12M bonus for what he's accomplished, let him play out his final year and go from there.

RE: Happy Tampering Day - Clark W Griswold - 03-11-2025

Didn’t see earlier that the Eagles are trading Gardner-Johnson to Houston for a guard.
I would think that means Becton is not going back to Philly and I don’t think their defense will be as good next year.

The Eagles have lost quite a few defenders so I would expect a drop off next season for sure. They will still be good but I don’t think they will be nearly as good as they were in the postseason.

In all reality, though - that would piss Trey off to the max.

Well I mean you can't treat your best players like robots. They have feelings and emotions. Players talk.

You can play hardball with guys and force them to play under their value. But, there are plenty of teams that won't.

And can only franchise tag 1 of Chase, Higgins, and Trey next year. So they need to get some deals done.

Our team basically sucked this past season outside of these 3, Burrow, and maybe a few other guys.

RE: BREAKING: Bengals give Trey Hendrickson permission to be traded - Clark W Griswold - 03-11-2025

The biggest issue with Tee is letting him walk for nothing next year. Yes it’s a better team with him and he would get much more than the tag amount in FA but they can’t just let him walk. Next year they can’t tag him again because of the cost so if you can’t afford to extend him then get some picks for him now.
With the way things are going now I think they might be able to get a first rounder for him.
Trey the best they could get would probably be a 2 and another pick or a pick swap.

It makes the most sense to have Trey play this year under his current contract but I am not sure how that will work out in the end.

I agree with you. I mean I'd just sign the dude instead of tagging him. Im just looking at it from the Bengals perspetive.

The Chase deal will get done and Higgins can't be tagged next year, so its basically just on Trey.

RE: BREAKING: Bengals give Trey Hendrickson permission to be traded - Luvnit2 - 03-11-2025

The plyayer the Bengals have the biggest investment for 2025 of the big 3 as of now is Tee Higgins at over 26 million, then Chase at 21,6 and then Trey at 15,8.

The FO has a decision to make, but that decisiion can be made after the draft. The big 3 are under contract right now for 2025 so while the fan's urgency to get the deald done, the Bengals don't gain a lot by getting them done. They do not have to do anything to get over the cap and have money to spend still.

Fans - overly urgent
Teams - no urgency

And that is why we have fans freaking out.

Signing a stop gap guard then trading Hendrickson for a 2nd rd. pick that Tobin will likely butcher doesn’t sound ideal. At this point they need to keep Hendrickson and sign a guard quickly. Loosing the NFl Sack leader and not signing a legit guard will make this team worse.

And Hendrickson was the second leading voter for defensive player of the year. He had a very special year last year (and last two years, really) and either needs to be in stripes or needs to bring back a high draft pick.

Rosen has killed the draft in recent years. Eagles have lots of draft picks and supposedly they have replacements on the roster for most of the guys wh left.

Agree on Becton that was my thoughts as well. Philly is scary because Dejean and Mitchell were only rookies at cb and will only get better. Jalen Carter and Nolan Smith only getting better heading into year 3 and still got Davis as a run stuffing NT. They need some more DL help after losing Sweat and Williams and of course this draft is loaded hits them perfect.

A 5/6 CB becomes a 3/4 CB with 2 injuries. We saw that in 2025 so adding depth cheap is smart in my humble opinion.

Yep.

RE: BREAKING: Bengals give Trey Hendrickson permission to be traded - Sled21 - 03-11-2025

Well it would seem no team is going to give up a 1 for Hendrickson, so hopefully he understands that now and signs a new deal right here. I'd give him a nice three year deal with heavy incentives on years 2 and 3.

RE: Happy Tampering Day - Tomcat - 03-11-2025

I hope i'm wrong, but i will be stunned if the Bengals sign any of Becton, Zeitler or Scherff. I think our Guards will be FORD/Volson at LG and a 2rd pick at RG.

well it was a thin market and a good amount stayed with their team, but Bosa, Ojulari and Fowlers are three i would look at for edge pressure

RE: Happy Tampering Day - The D.O.Z. - 03-11-2025

I’m pretty disappointed thus far, even with the Gesecki and Hill extensions. I’m *meh* on Perine coming back. And I’m underwhelmed by the Slayton and Oren signings, but understand their depth and needed for filling out a roster. But the Big 3 situations are handicapping us from going out and signing a GOOD guard. Or making a move for a rotational Edge for LDE. Or planning for *worst case scenario* in the event Trey is traded or held to his current contract and holds-in / out and finding a guy who can play RDE. Their inability to get some of these things done LAST season is really coming back to bite them in the ass big time.

the bengals have done what they needed to do so far..we can get an explosive pass rusher and good receiver in the draft..I have to laugh at the previous poster that you were replying to..Yes, players do talk...so what ..If the team is paying someone 15-30-50 million a year ..they can talk away all they want..I could care less..People in any organization talk..If this team can get a high draft pick for trey I am all in..You know I have watched other tremendous pass rushers..and when something else is happening in another part of the line..they break off their wrestling match  and run to help out..Trey does not....This organization ..and actions speak louder than words  knows the inherent issues on this team..they have let the defensive coordinator and offensive line coach go..They are shoring up their rotational players ..they resigned Mike Gesicki..whom is a very good receiver more than a tight end..they kept Bj..the young defensive line players were playing exceptionally well the last 5 games of the season..I have high hopes for this team..As of now we copuld use three things..a guard..a pass rusher and another 2-3 receiver..I think this will be addressed either through the draft and or FA..WHO DEY..time for spring golf and Pappy..have a great day

The urgency is because fans saw that Chase, who at the time was under contract for two more years, did a hold-in last preseason. (Despite fans thinking he would never do that; that he was just giving time for the youngsters, etc.). So, if Chase did a hold-in last year, then it is not inconceivable that the three (Chase, Trey, Tee) would all do a hold-in if they don't get a new contract, and maybe  Tee doesn't sign the tag until the end of preseason. Which would mean goodbye to any quick start to the season. I don't think any fan thought we would be waiting so long for a contract for Chase and Higgins, which began seriously a year ago. And not having contracts also adds a lot of uncertainty into the free agency and draft process.

If that happens then everyone in this front office should be fired and if I'm Burrow I'd ask for a trade before this organization ruins my career from an injury because we are starting two replacement level players at guard.

In no way is any part of this team improved. The defensive line is still a mess, we have 3 unhappy super stars, and we currently dont have a starting guard on the roster. All while tier 1, 2 options are pretty much gone.

What in the actual **** is going on?

are you kidding me..that defensive line was playing lights out the last 5-6 games of the season..big improvement with the rookies and even Murphy...the team has shored up the rotation..which is vitally important and resigned Gesicki..an excellent receiver... I do agree that we need a guard..and also a number 2 receiver and pass rusher..there are excellent options in the draft and in FA..As far as unhappy superstars..thats ridiculous..I can assure you Burrow is far from unhappy and is living a magical life..Chase knows hes going to get paid and be one of the highest paid players in the NFL..imagine making 30-40 million a year and getting treated like royalty.Higgins is a multimillionaire many times over..he will be fine..My lord have mercy if he has to play on the franchise tag and get paid 26 million bucks a year..We all should be so unhappy..Have a great day..WHO DEY

You can franchise tag a player 3 times.  The issue is the 3rd time you use the franchise tag it pays the player 144% of his 2nd franchise tag.  Since Tee is making ~26.2 million on his 2nd franchise tag, that means the 3rd tag would pay him ~37.7 million.
