Just watch some of his pressers and you'll see how absurd Paul and his ego had become.

I'm sure he oozed with that shit whenever talking about his "craft" to others.

Lap was always within earshot of this bozo.

You think for a moment he's not giving him payback right now?

Management tolerated it. They could have forced him to adapt or fired him.

He made it 8 games with the Cowboys. 24 years here.

Which team had higher standards?

In coaching, like everything else, it is about working smarter instead of just working harder.

I agree, I’m just saying that if it was an actual problem that it says more about the other leaders that let it go on.

This is not true. If the Bengals would have stayed where they were originally slotted to draft (21st) DeCastro would have been available, but they traded back to 27th and DeCastro was taken at 24.

We got Brandon Thomas for the tradeback. In hindsight it was a bad trade; especially knowing the Pats took Chandler Jones with the pick we traded.

The dude has played 14 or more games every year of his pro career at a position that player get injured all the time. For Laps to say what he said about him was unforgivable and then he turned punk when Gresh called him on it.

Lap was so smart he left the Bengals for a 10 year contract with a USFL team. Rolleyes

Jim LeClair left the Bengals for the exact same team.

Fun fact: Donald Trump was the majority owner of the team they both signed for.

We were trashed for taking Willie Anderson.  Experts were like "You don't take a RT in the Top 10.". Willie is on HoF ballots now as the best to ever play that position.

Levi Jones was supposed to be a ridiculous reach, and he turned out to be a franchise caliber LT.

Of course, he was responsible for getting future HoF LT Andrew Whitworth in the 2nd.  He also had 2 G's become the highest paid NFL history in Steinbach and Zeitler.

The last few years were a train wreck, and he needed to  go, but the man was responsible for drafting some of the greatest players in the history of the franchise.
Yes,I need to correct myself,DeCastro was available at pick 21,but we traded down to 27 and drafted Zeitler.Kirkpatrick was taken at 17.

It was the New Jersey Generals. They were effing stacked the year the league folded!! God I miss those games. They had a pretty neat helmet too.

Maybe he's trying to keep PA away from the Bengals for good? Interesting he comes out and says this now. Makes a little sense seeing as he would of probably been removed from the broadcasting team. But it's certainly not a good look to hear this from a guy who coaches for us for so long, and the title he held as assistant HC/O-line.

Alexander was a Mike Brown special.

A lot of great talent went to the USFL. Jim Kelly, Warren Moon, Steve Young, Reggie White, Herchel Walker, etc.

You think these guys were all dumb?

Lap is basically a Bengals employee. He rarely speaks out of turn and apparently held back his true thought on P.A. for years.

What I'm saying is that I seriously doubt he would've roasted Gresh if that weren't the prevailing thought in the building. It seemed Marv was pretty done with Gresh, based on comments he made. Players must have been talking too, if I were making an educated guess.

We really don't know what went on behind the scenes, but people were pissed for some reason. Just because Gresh remained mostly healthy through his career doesn't mean he didn't sandbag when he had an injury. We don't know.

Gresh had not missed a game all year had taken well over 85% of our offensive snaps that year and around 15% of our ST snaps. He had 62 catches and 5 TDs while being rock solid in the blocking game. All while playing with a back that needed surgery. I have 0 idea when he had time to sandbag.

I'm talking specifically about his ability/inability to play through whatever injury he had.

Whether the injury was real or not, it seems some inside the building were convinced he wasn't giving his best to play through it.

I don't see Lap being that bold unless he knew people that mattered felt that way.

Or maybe Laps was just running his mouth.

Of course the injury was real; he had surgery to repair it after he gave us 15 productive games with it in a contract year. He could have easily shut it down early and had the surgery instead of hurting his FA chances by having it in the off season.

I don't see Gresh quitting on this team unless folks take Lap's BS over facts.

I think Lap based his opinion on what he knew at the time.  Gresham practiced all week and was a big part of the game plan, then couldn't go on game day.

The key issue is that the herniated disc wasn't discovered until Gresham did a physical with Oakland during FA.  As far as the Bengals knew, he wasn't hurt that badly.  I don't think Gresham knew how bad his back was screwed up.  If he did, he would have seen a specialist right after the season ended.

Agree, I think there was some animosity there among the players and ML towards Gresh for whatever reasons besides the injury. Taking plays off, not giving full effort or something ? Perhaps the injury was limiting him more than they/he knew ?

Like you say I doubt Lap would have just went all solo assassin on Gresh without hearing it around locker room. And seeing some evidence himself.

Was it all justified ? I think there pretty much had to be something there.

Gresham looked awesome as a rookie, then the longer he was here his blocking started to suffer and he started dropping passes.

RE: "They stood around killing grass" - THE PISTONS - 11-08-2018

So people sometimes generally see a 3+3 = 4 performance from the Bengals and blame culture. For organizational culture, you can say you want high performance, but the reality is if you do nothing when people are being lazy...that becomes your standard.

PA is definitely the poster child for the Bengals 'culture' issues.

This seems to be a common theme with Bengals doctors and their players...
