RE: Listening to sportcasters right now is hilarious - TecmoBengals - 02-08-2022

I was listening to ESPN radio this morning and they had on Dick Vermiel as a guest. The host, Max, made a joke about him coaching both the Rams and the Chiefs and then asked Vermiel if he was disappointed both teams didn't make it to the Super Bowl.

Vermiel offered he thinks the Chiefs are the best team in the NFL but that they didn't play like it for a half. He then shared, and this is why I'm posting, that if the Chiefs played the Bengals four times, they'd beat the Bengals the other three games.

Nobody corrected Dick by telling him that the Bengals already beat the Chiefs two time this year in his hypothetical if they played each other four times scenario.

Who Dey 2-0 against the Chiefs.

This just reinforces the idea that no one really watched the Bengals this year.

& Vermeil didn't actually watch every Chiefs game.

The Chiefs are dang good and stupid talented

Our Bengals just have this magic about them and an intangible x-factor.

We have heart. Bengals = Rocky Balboa

It also helps we don’t have all these EGO’s and DIVA’s to please.

thats not remotely true and easy to disprove with a quick search

You're right, otherwise he would have watched the Bengals beat them the first time. *shrugs*

Yeah you can find some, I’m not denying that. But the little bit I listen to the media, my YouTube clips that pop up are mostly on about how the Rams are going to play there best game of tge year and tge Bengals have no chance. It’s not split down the middle. Burrow is ONLY elite if he wins SB etc. etc. like it’s not split.

Did anyone catch CP 9 talking about Donaldson?

I cannot stand him. He's so dramatic. Joe is not CP 9. Not even close. CP 9 couldn't get out of his own way when he was here. He played scared every snap after the 2005 kneeing by Pittsburgh.

He sounds so petty and almost like he wants Joe to get hurt. Man I REALLY do not like him.

Not a Palmer fan, but I don't see anything wrong with what he said. He basically said our line has struggled all year (it has) and it wouldn't matter if we had the best line in football because AD is unblockable. Many would agree.

I'm kinda past caring what Carson Palmer has to say. Nevermind the fact that he hasn't been here in over ten years, but often times when he talks about the team he goes out of his way to disassociate himself. I won't forget the comment he made in the lead-up to the 2020 Draft when someone asked him about Joe Burrow demanding a trade.

"I think you're onto something. I mean, you just look at the history of the organization and they've successfully been unsuccessful throughout their entirety."

Doesn't sound like someone who contributed eight years of their career to that organization's "successfully unsuccessful" history. And Sam Wyche, Forrest Gregg, Ken Anderson and Boomer Esiason can go pound salt I guess.

I'm not saying his stance is entirely without merit, but things within the organization have changed since he left. It's simply a point of fact. He demanded to be traded, he got traded, and he didn't retire a Bengal (which is exactly what he wanted). You'll have to forgive me if I'm not particularly interested in his viewpoint. Get back to me when Andy Dalton gives his retrospective.

Actually his level of play in 2006 was incredible considering that his injury occurred in the '05 playoffs.  He was sacked almost twice as many times in '06 as he was in '05 (36 to 19) but still had a great season.

2nd in the league in passing tds.
5th in yards.
6th in passer rating.

This seems pretty consistent with what I've seen generally.

It's about even split.

This notion no one thinks the Bengals can win is silly.

Statistically yes, but he wasn’t the same after that hit.

You shouldn’t put words into my mouth lol.

It’s not an even split. Most are saying the bengals are going to get beat bad. There are analysts that think they can win. But definitely not en even split.

I literally gave you proof you're wrong and you continue to argue.

And the national media is already giving the Bengals a lot of love just because of Burrow.

Sportsbooks make us a 4 point underdog.  I think that is very reasonable.

They give us love, sure, but it's always with a little pat on the head and a "aww...ain't they cute" type of condescension.

There's been a lot of "they don't know they're not supposed to be here" type of comments.

This seems to be the national perception, but why? We're just as talented as the Chiefs on offense, and we're better on defense.

So why are we viewed as the "scrappy" guys getting by on pure magic? I'd say for the media it's because they can't let go of our past.

Actually, that's probably the reason for Bengals fans as well (the one's who feel that way).
