I'm trying to give Zim the benefit of the doubt because he's never been one of these fake insiders who throws things out just for engagement. I would like to think that he wouldn't have posted it unless it was all but a done deal. Why does Zim get benefit of the doubt, but Tee Higgins' mother doesn't? I mean, if we had to rank credibility of sources, dude's mom would be just a step under his agent, right? Maybe it was the Easter Bunny? Maybe a leprechaun brouoght Tee a pot of gold as a late St Patrick's day gift! Maybe..... RE: Higgins signs new deal? - jj22 - 04-10-2023 Good news is we are getting to 5+ page threads still pretty easily around here now during the offseason. Bad news is seeing 5+ ages in a thread like this would usually be more than just a tweet. He said he’s trying to give Ziin benefit of doubt, BUT his mom saying something that contradicts is a sign it’s fake. He’s believes his mom, as do I. Unless she’s playing like she doesn’t know bc she doesn’t want to let the news out, but that’s highly unlikely. Either she really doesn’t know or it’s fake. Fake is the more plausible answer. Yeah, I'm not buying some 'cryptic clues' from a small market team podcaster as getting the scoop over national media pundits with solid and established ties to both agents and teams. All of these Bengals groupies (Zim, Ace Boogie) on twitter are kind of bizarre. A lot of them are super toxic and provide more harm to the fanbase than good. RE: Higgins signs new deal? - ElkValleyBengal - 04-10-2023 I'm beginning to think Twitter isn't the best source for news. That fact that she is responding to him is kind of telling, though. Couple that with Tee's tweet about his agent shortly AFTER Zim's original tweet and there is def smoke there... I've seen Zim get some hate from people talking about this news. I am not familiar with him at all, but I guess he tweeted about how Eli Apple was being re-signed at some point earlier in FA? Genuinely no idea, but I've seen a handful of people talk about that. Reading through his Twitter, he is saying "Deal is done, no idea when they announce it. Will probably be a while. Everyone is on vacation." It would be really cool if this ended up being true, but I am not going to count on it having any validity. Hopefully he is right. Yeah - I kind of refuse to follow any of these Bengals fan "celebs" on Twitter. I can't stand the narcisim and self importance some of these guys get off on with having a few thousand followers on twitter - big deal. I have a Twitter but rarely use it. I really only created one so I could follow Ben Baldwin. He's an NFL analytics guy. Other than that, I don't use it for anyone else. RE: Higgins signs new deal? - NotBigzo - 04-10-2023 So we're not signing Jamar then? BEcuase if we paid Tee anywhere close to his market value, it'd be mind numbingly stupid to then pay Joe and Jamar close to their value. If they continue to draft well then they can spend on the WRs. RE: Higgins signs new deal? - jj22 - 04-10-2023 (04-10-2023, 12:15 PM)NotBigzo Wrote: So we're not signing Jamar then? We still have 4 more years of control of Chase (including a tag). 2 more with Higgins, 3 more with Burrow. I think it's kinda early to worry about anyone outside of Higgins theoretically. I know Burrow will only get more expensive so I get that. To be clear, I wouldn't be shocked at all if Tee's extension is announced today. There is plenty of smoke and, like I said, Zim is not a Malik Wright type person who prides themselves on "getting the scoop" and being wrong half (or 75% or 90%) of the time. I genuinely believe that he believes he knows something. I just think Tee's mom's tweet there was confusing as it muddles what would otherwise be a ton of smoke that would indicate, to me, an extension announcement coming soon. RE: Higgins signs new deal? - CJD - 04-10-2023 (04-10-2023, 12:15 PM)NotBigzo Wrote: So we're not signing Jamar then? Nah, we'll definitely sign Ja'marr and Joe. The question won't be "will they sign all 3?" The question always has been "Is it a good idea to sign all 3, from a team building perspective?" We'll get an answer to the latter question in about 3 or 4 years, assuming Tee does get extended and they ink both Joe and Ja'marr, as expected. If we fail to win a Super Bowl and/or disappoint in the playoffs/regular season due to a weak defense or weak o-line because we couldn't afford to sign the guys we needed to, then we'll have that answer. If we go on to win a Super Bowl or two or, at the very least, remain as competiitve as we are right now, then we'll also have that answer. RE: Higgins signs new deal? - depthchart - 04-10-2023 (04-10-2023, 12:15 PM)NotBigzo Wrote: So we're not signing Jamar then?. NFL Teams likely see Higgins as capable of being a #1 wide receiver. By signing Higgins, the Bengals will likely pay a price that is reasonable for what he can do. They then have Higgins in place as an insurance policy should Jamar's market value and what he demands become more difficult to pay than the Bengals want to tolerate. Tyreek Hill signed for 4 years at $120 million with $72.2 million guaranteed with Miami at age 29. Jamar is just 23 years old, so he may demand more money than Tyreek Hill received and Jamar may have a higher trade value than Hill. Things can go sideways in negotiations (see Lamar Jackson & the Ravens as of today) Having Higgins signed could tilt the Bengals away from keeping Jamar should the price tag to keep Jamar seem to high when compared to what the Bengals could get for Jamar in a trade. The Bengals appear to want to keep all three (Burrow/Higgins/Chase) but the NFL is a business & nothing is set in stone until it all gets finalized. |
