Him needing a half season to warm up can be put to rest with the offensive production since week 2. The bengals were up 10 with less than 6 minutes left. The defense gave up 10. In OT they get the ball back and settle for a 50+ yard FG with 3 straight runs. The defense then allowed a 50 yard run. Blame burrow all you want, but he has been insane since week 1. Since then the offense has averaged 32.5 points a game, and Joe has had a passer rating of 100 or higher in every game. Or a painful one. All we need is 1 score and so many times we’ve had the opportunities in the 4th quarter to win a game that isn’t out of contexts it’s the games we’ve all watched over the last 4 years. how many drives to end the SB and only needing 3. You see it over and over in these close games. Blame who you want and many blame the coaches but it’s just not getting done when points are needed the most. The 1 score game issue is the smoking gun. NFL games are generally within a td. So yeah, take 7 pts off the board and it likely shifts who wins. Like historically bad. With even a mediocre defense we’re a legit contender, and Burrow is the front runner for MVP. The problem isn't Burrow. It's the same as it's always been... Ownership and management. It's the same ol same ol. Ring of honors and practice bubbles and some free agents hid it for a few years, but they have no idea how to sustain success beyond a franchise QB's rookie contract. Oh... And this defense is trash. Youre just letting the bigger moments (super bowl, 22 afc chip) trump the clutch moments that werent those 2 huge games. Once again, I can point to the 2 game winning throws in the 21 playoff run against kc and tennessee. you'll just move the goalposts anyways. Plus there are games that the bengals ultimately lost, but Burrow would drive down the field to send it to ot (san fran 21) RE: Seasons not over, but it's gone. - casear2727 - 10-06-2024 (10-06-2024, 10:46 PM)THE PISTONS Wrote: NFL games are generally within a td. Asking for ONE stop in the last 3 losses in which the opponents only punted 5 times IS NOT an unreasonable request. Not your best take. RE: Seasons not over, but it's gone. - Frank Booth - 10-06-2024 there's a reason why the "Burrow isnt clutch" narrative isnt taking off nationally. Because people know it's ridiculous. a small minority of people are the only ones who take that narrative seriously RE: Seasons not over, but it's gone. - Bengalbug - 10-06-2024 (10-06-2024, 10:52 PM)Frank Booth Wrote: you either havent watched all of the games from 2021-now, or you have bad memory. He has finally been the one to turn me off ESPn. I know many jumped ship a while ago, but I just can’t listen to him anymore. Burrow could drive down for a fg to take the lead with 1 minute left, then the defense will blow it and give up a touchdown as time expires, and the guy would blame burrow for only being able to settle for 3 RE: Seasons not over, but it's gone. - jj22 - 10-06-2024 Yes the defense is to blame. All of the blame should be sheltered by the defense. That’s the big picture view tho. When you pull back the curtain they got stops when needed the most.Gave the offense a chance to win it or extend the lead. This game should have never went to OT. A clutch QB gets a FG with 1:23 left. We were supposed to have faith it would get done. Like we would have when Burrow was drafted. Like all the fans of the greats. Other fans should be saying they left too much time on the clock for Burrow. No one says that. We are more likely to get a 3 and out then the game winning drive. If some how the Offense could score 3 more points. In those last couple drives. But this loss is on the defense. And I genuinely believe that. Granted one was after giving up 35 points and the other one was thanks to a bad snap. Clutch isn’t throwing 5 TDs in a loss. It’s getting one stop even after giving up 35. Or even getting your team in winning position after having your worst game as a pro. |
