Same way I feel, I don't understand living off of spewing negativity like lots on here do. It is bad enough to have a losing season. (11-22-2024, 03:24 PM)Sled21 Wrote: Sounds like a hell of an idea. We only get about 18 weeks of football... a couple more if in the playoffs. I would hate to spend the entire time being miserable and spewing negativity. Exactly, and once we are officially out of the Playoffs I will rotate to the Draft forum mostly because all of the negativity in here. That way I can stay positive for the future. Being negative about it is counter productive in life in general. This season has been hard enough, but everywhere i look it's "fire zac" and even "carson was right" and I find myself slowly backing away from this place, r/bengals, cincyjungle, etc. And honestly, this board and the other places I named are a huge part of what makes the season fun! Just hasn't felt that way in a long while to me at least. Gets rough in here, but rotate to the Draft Forum if you want some positivity for the future like I said. I prefer solutions. Cappa looks like he has gave up, at least Ford hasn't been a total liability at LT which is honestly easy to do going against the best pass rushers and I cannot believe I am even saying this. Cappa needs to step up and be what he used to be. I am done with Volson, we need change if it continues to be this bad in front of Burrow and in run blocking. All I am saying is we need a change on the IOL. I'm not in the camp of "change it up for the sake of changing it up." If there is a guy who is an unknown quantity, I can see trying him out, but we know what Cody Ford is and isn't. Heck, I'd rather give Matt Lee an opportunity somewhere on the IOL than see Cody Ford and his sub-55.0 PFF grade every year in his career go out there as a full-time starter the rest of the year. At least Matt Lee has looked good in the limited times we have seen him. Plus, he needs some opportunities if he's going to be a future starter. But also, we need to stop praying for a miracle with this season, especially if it involves injecting Cody Ford as a starter the rest of the way. Trying to have Cody Ford come in and save the season isn't something that's a reality. He's had 6 seasons to show the NFL who he is, and he's been consistent at showing it. He's not starter material, period. And after 6 seasons, he's not gonna magically improve. If anyone is going to come in and turn around a season, it's going to be one of the young bucks who hasn't had a chance to really show themselves yet. RE: Bengals Win Out + Colts Beat the Broncos... Would Karras do better at LG next season with a much better supporting cast around him? Or even still C? perhaps? For that matter will Mims pan out? But bottom line we have to get our Oline fixed, IMHO that's priority #1 And I highly doubt any move is going to magically turn this season around. RE: Bengals Win Out + Colts Beat the Broncos... Fair enough, plus Cappa looked better against the Chargers according to his grade anyways. Volson is terrible though and I am done with him. I always think of Lee as more of a Center than Guard but he can play both, same with Karras. Changing it up sometimes can be a good thing especially when a player has been terrible and you honestly cannot get any worse. Ford like I said, hasn't been a liability at LT and that has to be acknowledged. He hasn't been as bad this season as he has the rest of his career that you keep referencing. Orlando should be back at LT after the bye and the OL should be better. (11-23-2024, 11:56 AM)bengalfan74 Wrote: Yes Cappa and Volson both need to go. Keep Ted Karras, he actually has been pretty good with how bad both the guys on both sides of him have been. Not an easy task. That is what is nice about Ted, he can play LG if we want to put Lee at Center. I definitely think Mims will pan out as long as injuries don't happen. The only way I see a magical turn around is if the Defense gets much better and they get opportunistic. Burrow and the Offense will be good enough to win some games, but we need to win out and that will take major help from the D. Anyways, if we lose to the stealers after the bye I might be secretly hoping for an earlier Draft position. RE: Bengals Win Out + Colts Beat the Broncos... I've certainly been there myself but i keep coming back to the reason the record is what it is. It's the view that most of the team is bad, is where i'm not on board. They've been completely unable to close out games in the end that has them where they are, not that they're unable to compete with good teams. They've had historic losses this year--things you just don't see in NFL history. They've failed to make a single play in 4 games this year that would have changed the outcome in that game. Burrow has had the ball in his hands in 5 games this year with a chance to either extend the lead or win the game and they've failed every time. That's something you just don't see often in the NFL. If they were able to convert just 2 of those 4 or 2 of those 5, we're looking at a completely different season. That's the only reason i still think they have the ability to turn this season around. Now, if they come out and lose to Pitt at home, forget about it, season's a wrap. Hell, if they lose any of the 3 next games you might as well say season over unless the teams right in front of them continue to fall as well. In just about any other season, by this point at 4-7, they'd already be out of it but the AFC is not very great this year. Honestly, if i were Zac, i would have told the team, take 2 or 3 days and get away. Go to the beach or go to a cabin in the woods--whatever you do to relax--forget about football and how the season has gone and just relax, forget about what has happened so far and come back like it's a new season, ready to start fresh. As bad as the defense has been, they've been able to shut Lamar down for a half+ and they shut the Chargers O down until the last drive. It's not like they haven't shown the ability to shut anyone at all down. I'm not really sure i have the hope this coaching staff can make the couple small tweaks that are necessary to change things around but i can't seem to shake the optimism i have that they will find a way to flip the switch and start closing out games to be where they need to be by season's end. Yeah, the chances of us losing this many close games the way we have just seems really low. You would think the odds would be in our favor of starting to win some and after a bye week where the team can just go into the rest of the season fresh could be at just the right time yah never know. I don't have much faith in the coaching staff at this point, especially on Defense with Lou and Hobby who have been complete disappointments this season and last, but they have adjusted in the past and young players can get better and usually do. It's not like they haven't shown the ability to shut anyone at all down. And then they gave up 28 in the second half to the Ravens. I also question you saying they shut down the Chargers until the last drive. Are we saying giving up 24 points in the first half is shutting them down? Because even after they dropped 34 on us they only average 22 per game on offense. So we let them score more in the first half than they score per game on average. There's a difference between holding onto hope and having optimism and completely ignoring and trying to change reality. |
