RE: ***Official 2021 NFL Draft Thread*** - PlayadLc - 04-30-2021 He’s our starting guard. RE: ***Official 2021 NFL Draft Thread*** - Sled21 - 04-30-2021 I'd have taken Creed, but if this guy was good enough at Clemson then he must be solid. No way he was 317 in that picture where he has a spare tire. I hate it when people say short arms. I picture the player out there trying to defend like a T-Rex. Needs to bump inside. Won't be an above average NFL tackle. RE: ***Official 2021 NFL Draft Thread*** - Chezaugie - 04-30-2021 Like Price, another T-Rex pick. Gotta love those short armed guys. Not sure he ever gets to full time tackle but it’s possible. RE: ***Official 2021 NFL Draft Thread*** - MasonDT70 - 04-30-2021 (04-30-2021, 09:13 PM)TheLeonardLeap Wrote: Short arms. If Pollock thinks he's worth the 2nd rounder I'm cool with it Josh Myers at C for 69? RE: ***Official 2021 NFL Draft Thread*** - CJD - 04-30-2021 For what it's worth, NFL.com thinks Carman is a "good back up who could become a starter" in the NFL, 86th overall prospect: https://www.nfl.com/prospects/jackson-carman/32004341-5219-8645-d8f8-13f7e39c03a5 His big pros seem to be good awareness, size, strength, agile for his size. Big cons seem to be lunges, struggles with speed, may be immature (weight issues, accountability problems) Sounds kind of like Andre Smith, to be honest. Which would be a great pick in the 2nd if he has a similar career. RE: ***Official 2021 NFL Draft Thread*** - tBengal - 04-30-2021 Looks very passive. Don’t like this pick. RE: ***Official 2021 NFL Draft Thread*** - DYT_Bengal - 04-30-2021 Not a big fan - his technique is very mediocre. I still think 4th round quality - reminds me of Jordan. RE: ***Official 2021 NFL Draft Thread*** - pally - 04-30-2021 Zac says would have taken him at 38 RE: ***Official 2021 NFL Draft Thread*** - Atomic Orange - 04-30-2021 Jackson Carman is Clemson’s highest-drafted offensive lineman in more than 40 years. RE: ***Official 2021 NFL Draft Thread*** - Destro - 04-30-2021 Copied this. I know nothing Carman might be able to offer emergency tackle value at the next level but he is better-suited for a move inside to guard. Regardless of position, he needs to improve placement and sustain with his hands to help stay connected as a blocker. He has enough pop to handle man-blocking duties inside and has adequate athleticism to go with his wide frame to help improve leaky interior pass protection. His footwork creates unorthodox fits into the block and that will need to be corrected or NFL defensive tackles will send him crashing to the ground. His lunging, lingering punch can be tightened up with more work so that he lands his heavy hands without worrying about being countered by hand-fighters. Carman has starting potential as a guard with emergency value at right tackle.
