Also, although I dislike Harbaugh as a rival, I love his way of building culture and philosophy.  His teams are always physical and can tackle.  You have to think that might have rubbed off on Clinkscale over the years.

There are a lot of interesting FA Chargers this year on D. Mack at DE, Ford and Tart at DT. Clinkscale is a DB guy, right? Mack is too old/pricey for us, but a mid level spend on Ford or Tart would make sense.

So yes they could switch scheme. If Hendrickson doesn’t fit the scheme he could be traded for a ransom too.

With where the defense is at I would be okay with a complete overhaul.
They could let half the defense go.

Of course the argument is they need to win now.

When it comes down to it I just want them to hire whoever is most capable of developing a dominant defense. Therefore the best coach should get the job.

We need someone who can evaluate talent well and let the dead weight go and develop a winning defense.

To your question - if the management hired a QB coach as a HC, then I would think they may consider Parker as DC.

I would like to see veteran DL and LB coaches to surround him if we do hire him.

Hiring Parker checks multiple boxes, but the fact remains that he will bring a style of defense which can mirror the style of our offense. But we will need to spend on our D-line to make it work.
