No not joking. There is more guaranteed money than the signing bonus. Im not excusing the agent as he has also made this situation personal. But the Bengals have more of a history making the contract side of things aggravating for the agent which can leak to the player than just this Stewart situation.

Thought we were close. Guess not.

from what im reading about Hiller, being young in the game and not having great success with other teams, it sure looks like he is the issue especially after MB gave us a bit more public statement than before on the limits that he wants in the contract with losing $$

Yeah, guess not. Trey apparently is in Florida, not even near training camp.

Darn. Thought they were close, also.

RE: Trey Hendrickson Update - Nicomo Cosca - 07-22-2025

"This is an issue revolving around guaranteed money," ESPN's Adam Schefter tweeted. "The Bengals have been willing to offer only one year of it while other top pass rushers - Maxx Crosby, Myles Garrett, TJ Watt - have gotten three."

Mickey Mouse organization.

I decided to look up Hiller because I knew nothing about him.
Apparently he started his agency LAA back in 2017, where Dalvin Cook became his first client.
He's 33 years old now, having ~8 years of experience as an agent.

Reading this article gives a good view into Hiller's mindset and approach - he doesn't take no for an answer.
https://www.entrepreneur.com/growing-a-business/how-this-boutique-sports-agency-is-beating-billion-dollar/486322

From what I can tell reading things like the above, Hiller being closer to age with his actual clients (20's and 30's) and having the personality he has, he's able to connect with them in a way perhaps other agencies aren't, and that's why they choose to go with him over a more established agency.
For Hiller, it's all about trust and loyalty.

I believe what's going on here is Hiller is the kind of person who will try to exhaust every option fighting for his client, and he may rub some teams (especially those more traditional ones like Mike Brown) the wrong way in how he talks and how transparent he is to the public.

I can see that if I were a talent looking to hire an agent, someone like Hiller might actually be more in line with what I would be looking for.
Unfortunately, I don't believe or know if Hiller has ever tried to negotiate with Mike Brown and the Bengals before, but they are pretty hardline and difficult to negotiate with if you are trying to push them to get your way.
This might ultimately be a situation where Stewart/Hiller needs to concede some or risk not getting signed.

Well I've heard there is a limit to what they can do with rookie contracts so there's only so much he could ask for. I looked up Mims and he had a 15mil completely guaranteed contract and a signing bonus a little under 8 mil which was paid half at signing half in Dec. So I can see it as a big ask to get the signing bonus all at signing but if you are gonna pay it in Dec anyway why not pay it all at once and you still protect yourself from the back half of the guaranteed contract money.

RE: Trey Hendrickson Update - Timanky12 - 07-22-2025

I think the Bengals would be better off trading all their draft picks for player trades with other teams, that are already signed to contracts. Apparently we suck a negotiating new contracts.

Exactly! how does Duke keep his job after this one?! What the hell does he have on MB ? Was MB on Epstein Island?
Look at some of the 1st rd gems Duke has produced (excluding slam dunkers like JB and Chase):

John F'in Ross
Ogblewie
Price
Dax
Murphy

What mess he has made...meanwhile Ravens keep hitting on probowlers in rd 1

So much truth in that.

RE: Trey Hendrickson Update - Luvnit2 - 07-22-2025

Trey told ESPN he is not reporting today. He will start his $50K mandatory fines the first day of camp he misses. It can't be waived by the team as in the CBA. Also, the fine money goes directlly to the team and is removed from the cap money spent.

As for his missing mandatory camp, that is close to $100K in fines, but team can choose to waive it.

The point is this holdout may cost him a lot of money. I am sure he is banking on recouping with a new contract.

As for guarantee under his contract, in 2025 Trey has no guaranteed money in his existing contract. If Bengals chose to trade him, they would only have the signing bonus portion of his deal as dead money. They would pick up almost 16 million in cao space.

I hope we sign him, but I also hope it is a fair deal for both parties. It sounds like the guaranteed portion is the stumbling blcok according to Shefter.

I was reading through some of his posts, arguments and then I noticed...

Oh, what does his status say?

Banned.

They got him, too. Lol.

Time to move on from him. I wanted to move on from him before last year when he cried & wanted to redo his contract when the Bengals literally could'nt by league rules. Trade him for whatever starter on D you can get. WTS the Bengals should only guarantee 1 year at 35 million & years 2 & 3 should be performance based to reach that. He's not a 40 million guy. If the Bengals view him as a 30 million guy they need to move him.

I don't have a lot to add, but the dude wasn't awesome nor was he a good at discourse. He ignored reason in posts by others and just parroted his talking points over and over again. But hey, we all have our different opinions and that's what makes a forum engaging.

Feels like they already missed the window on maximizing return value for him, but perhaps not. What's the best they could do now, a 3rd rounder in the '26 draft?

If that's something you respect, fine. But, board traffic or not, Fred's fate was earned.
