We saw what happens when you play with half of a team, offense only and no defense. Offense puts butts in the seats, it’s flashy and exciting, but that will not win you games against other offensive teams, we proved that last year.
If they don’t address the defense, don’t expect any different results.

Obviously defense is also very important. It’s not MORE important than offense. That’s always been a myth.

It's the coaches/FO who have to figure out how to fill the rest of the roster with a good team despite the high contracts for a few.

What happened is unprecedented. Never has a group of players held out to strongarm Ownership. That comes with accountability. Brady nor Mahones could keep their SB teams together. Brady even took less money just to be played for a fool.
They've been discussing how this changes the landscape of the NFL and if other teams top players would follow suit. What we witnessed with this coup is significant.
Owners may be just as pissed with MB and co as they were with the Browns after they signed Watson to that fully guaranteed contract.

Some of this is everyone demanding they sign them and then now everyone turning on them for ignoring the defense which is typical of the media and lame.
Also it is the same arguments made by some around here who take heat for not necessarily wanting Tee extended.

I get the angle. I just don't believe it. It all seems too manufactured to me. There's already too much history with this QB and WRs and we see how it's played out with the different defenses and offensive lines.
It's not like the Bengals were actually held hostage by Joe, to the point they couldn't go any other way. That's just ridiculous.
It's 100% on the front office to put blockers up front and hit with some defensive draft picks.

If Joe doesn't make his feelings known (repeatedly and even throughout the season) I'm not sold Tee is extended. Now we know Tee would have had to be if we wanted to keep Chase, but Joe played a big part in this.

I wouldn't say it puts Joe on the "hot seat" But I believe he is at least a bit under pressure for demanding (basically) bringing Tee back. You know more or less at the expense of being able to rebuild a Porus defense.
I mean now the offense has to put up major points every game (including the first 4) of the season because the defense is going be giving up some points I'd say.
But Joe thrives under pressure so I hope it pays off.

It's completely dishonest to say they can't do this or that until we see the cap hit numbers for the next few years. No one other than the Bengals, right now, know how much money is still available and no one knows how the draft is going to play out.
It's all silly talking-head conjecture based on what other teams have done in the past with the money they had available and how they handled their cap. None of that relates to the Bengals this year.

Signing your own guys aren't ever sexy.... it's much easier for us fans looking at the 10 across the hall and wanting to take our shot.
By all accounts this was a weak free-agency class. We got the guys san Hendrickson at the moment that we needed to get.
It all comes down to can you hit your draft picks. Perhaps make a trade for a vet for once and try and get over the hump.

Yeah, Tee was the top FA, BJ Hill was a top DT in this FA. Sometimes it just looks greener on the other side adding someone from
some other team but it may not be. Would of sucked to of lost any of these guys and Slaton helps to stop the run, Perine helps to
protect our franchise, Burks was great last season on the SB Champs, Ossai was our second best pass rusher, Cam Sample is solid
and Gesicki is a 6'6" pass catching mismatch for Joe Burrow.

Its not just Chase and Higgins but the Bengals also re-signed Mike Gesicki at 8.5 million per year because Burrow wanted him back. The national media will be all over Burrow this year and rightfully so. Burrow pushed and pushed the Bengals by calling them out. Now Burrow and the rest of the offense needs to get it done every single week. There are no excuses for Burrow this year. This is what he demanded. This is what he got.
