Who cares if it's AI or not, is the information wrong??????? I'm not trying to pick on you. I just feel like if you are going to quote something a link to the source is a good idea. Also if you are going to quote something as fact where it states a player peaks around age 26 when talking football and defensive ends in particular an article specifically studying baseball players is not the best source. Although it may be true for football players and defensive ends as well. But saying it may be AI who cares? Is kind of like saying it may be total BS but who cares? We don't know how much of what you quoted is true because the only source linked is again, about baseball players. Seeing how none of the draft and develop technique has worked out well with several players drafted in recent years (yes, the jury is still out on a couple), it's very important to keep what star power they have on the defense. Let's be real here, with the money the are potentially going to spend on Trey, it's not like they're going to invest it in some can't miss up and coming players that somehow their current teams just allowed them to float off to the Bengals. I mean, I'm hoping for guys like Myles Murphy and Joseph Ossai to come into their own as much as the next fan, but I'm not counting on much excitement. I also missed the context of this but did want to say while the AI is most likely correct on the age of decline for DEs a more detailed search among players that match Trey production data historically may be more accurate. Every year people say we can add talent when the final roster cuts happen. I dont know that I've ever seen that happen. We've obviously had significant player for player trades that have occurred. If we are at a true impasse with Trey (which i doubt) than a player swap could be interesting. Im not liking the IOL we appear to heading into the season with so that could be interesting. But not having Stewart in the fold makes that unlikely. There are still a few veterans out there who are battle tested and fully ready to plug and play for a moderate to modest year's pay. Brandon Scherff, anyone?? Instead they team did what they always resort to, the cheapest possible "fix". Band-Aids on bullet holes: Front Office philosophy on interior O line for most of the past 34 years. Having a quality interior O line has been the exception and not the rule. Sad thing is the Playoff appearances have usually coincided with a quality interior O-line. Murphys more impressive reps have been at the RDE spot (Treys spot if RDE isn't correct) so his reps have been limited there. So presuming Trey and Stewart are signed soon. It may be Trey/Murphy and Ossai/Stewart so maybe we see more flashes from Murphy on that side if it plays out that way. My concern is why has noone else signed these OG's still availablle. Hernandez is probably still recovering from knee surgery, but others are not. Are they really an upgrade or are the just names we think are better than Ford and Patrick. For one, I think Volson may still have a future and I am looking to see if Peters can improve him. All the Vets have question marks but they would undoubtedly improve our roster. There are always and are right now vets at all positions that can it will probably be picked up and be quality starters for teams around the league. I get the optimism but there is enough data on Volson and Ford to know what they are to wish and hope when the face of your franchise depends on them being good at there job is a poor strategy. I'm not expecting any moves outside of the DEs getting signed at some point but thats my wishful thinking. I wasn't attacking the source I was saying a more detailed search could be better. It said most DEs decline in theyre late 20s which I would tend to agree with. But Trey has led the league in sacks the last 2 years so he clearly doesnt fall into that group. The data I've seen presented of players that fit similarly to his career production data is that they have a gradual decline going into there 30s. Baring injury it's reasonable to expect him to be a double digit sack guy in a few years. Yes it's a higher risk than a players in his mid 20s and im not sure exactly what he wants in guarantees. But the Bengals could certainly offer more guarantees than the 1st year. RE: Trey Hendrickson Update - WeezyBengal - 07-24-2025 Where in the world is Trey today? Word is he was spotted at Kenwood mall along with Noah Fant. |
