RE: Have we done one hit wonders? - michaelsean - 02-06-2016 Maybe not greatest, but I've always liked "Drivers Seat" by Sniff 'N' the Tears. I just like the way it sound. Sort of like how I like the previously mentioned "No Rain" by Blind Melon. It just has a great sound. I would say over 20 years old now? I remember it as a kid. He claims the name Rockwell was to prove the release of his record was not aided by who his father is. Come on now, how many other people did Michael Jackson perform background vocals for??? And we we're to believe that had NOTHING to do with Barry Gordy??? (02-02-2016, 05:01 PM)jason Wrote: I'm pretty sure Sam the Sham & the Pharaohs never had another hit after Wooley Bully. What about Little Red Riding Hood? (02-03-2016, 12:04 PM)michaelsean Wrote: Here is Hurdy Gurdy Man. Maybe not a heavy metal sound to the guitar, but not something you heard a lot of in the late 60's. Sure you did. It's Jimmy Page. To add to the thread, and as I just saw the damn GEICO commercial again, Europe's The Final Countdown. RE: Have we done one hit wonders? - fredtoast - 10-08-2016 "Dancing in the Moonlight" by Kings Harvest RE: Have we done one hit wonders? - jfkbengals - 10-08-2016 RIght Here, Right Now from Jesus Jones Does In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida count? Eddie Murphy-Party All The Time Peter Schilling-Major Tom The Jeff Healey Band-Angel Eyes Those are just off the top of my head. My wife and I will have 1 hit wonder nights every couple of months where all we listen to are 1 hit wonders of the 80s RE: Have we done one hit wonders? - BengalsRocker - 10-15-2016 Not really "hit" songs per say... but known songs. Both "Battle Scar" by Max Webster(featuring Geddy Lee)and the lead singer/guitar player Kim Mitchell went on to solo career with "Go For Soda". Dude was one bizarre M'fer. I laughed my ass off when Ricky from Trailer Park Boys was pimpin' Kim Mitchell. A Million Vacations High Class in Borrowed Shoes Diamonds Diamonds (maybe only big in Canada) Hangover The Party Waterline (Big in Canada) Toronto's Tontos (HUGE in Canada) Battle Scar (their best song, IMO) Paradise Skies Let Go the Line (maybe only big in Canada) Check Think I've covered them all. Completely not a 1HW band. As for his solo stuff: Go For Soda All We Are Lager & Ale RocklandWonderland Patio Lanterns (awful, awful song {he admits it} but it was super popular) Rock and Roll Duty I Am a Wild Party He and Randy Bachman are the two best guitarists to ever come out of our country; Kim just shreds and shreds while Randy is a complete virtuoso, a master. STOP BAGGING ON KM!!!! And I better not find Crazy Town anywhere in this thread either! Guitar players/musicians know who Kim Mitchell is here in the U.S. General public... not so much. Max Webster/KM did not have great success here on the radio. Geddy Lee and Rushes involvement was probably the only reason they played Battle Scar here. Canada is a whole different story Truck. Rik Emmett better make your list for great guitarists!! But those songs mentioned were quite popular in Europe as well. And my dad went to school with Rik Emmett! They even hung in the same group together, but they weren't close or even friends (my dad didn't like him too much, thought he was more of a "poppy," guy, while most of their friends were prog and into Yes, ELP, Gentle Giant and Jethro Tull.
