RE: College Football Season Open Thread. - SunsetBengal - 12-10-2024 A few boards might shuffle a bit after Deontay Corleone announced he was returning to UC for another season. RE: College Football Season Open Thread. - Synric - 12-13-2024

McLachlan has played zero snaps and Grandy is ahead of him. Gesicki & Hudson are FA's. And counting on All for anything seems foolish. Won't be the first time they took 2 day 3 same position then followed it up next year eith a top 100 pick. They just did it with receiver the last two drafts. All you can really expect out of Day 3 picks is cheap depth fills. Sometimes, you hit, but shouldn't be taking guys on Day 3 expecting them to become starters. I get that logically, the mathematical probability of landing multiple quality starters late is highly improbable. However, there have been some anomalies over the years that give me reason to think that there is something to be said about in depth scouting and the targeting of players with specific sets of skill to fill a desired role. Think back to the "Legion of Boom" years of the Seahawks defense. That unit seemed to be littered with mid and even late round starters that didn't just fill a role, but excelled. I'm not saying that just any team can pull something like that off, but one's that know exactly what they are looking for in a player have a much better chance. I think all scouting departments have strengths and weaknesses. Plus, the coordinator and position coaches developing said talent make a big difference. We had a long string of success with DL being taken on Day 3 years back, for example. Sucks, because All showed potential, but sadly, guys with his college injury history rarely suddenly become durable in the NFL. RE: College Football Season Open Thread. - Synric - 12-17-2024
RE: College Football Season Open Thread. - Synric - 12-19-2024 Second round might end up being the sweet spot for IOL. Mizzou RT Armand Membou has alot of parallels to Amarius Mims. Like Mims Membou is an athlete that has size and not a guy with size that has some athleticism. He's only 6'3 315-320ish but he's built like Mims with zero body fat. He's a natural pass protector but needs to finish a little more as a run blocker. Membou has a chance to cut his teeth at Guard for the Bengals.
RE: College Football Season Open Thread. - Synric - 12-19-2024 Big reason Tyler Warren is TE1 right here.

He's one of the smallish (height and probably arm length but not weight) but high performing OTs who I see as able to move inside. My interest for Pegues Ole Miss DT is fading as he is now moving from UDFA to Round 4 status on boards which is fair but no longer diamond in the rough. My new draft crush is Willie Lampkin, UNC OG. He is regularly the highest rated OG in college football who didn't give up a sack until week 13 of the season and is also a highly rated run blocker. His sin is that he's under 6' tall at 290 lbs. Seems like he's worth a late flyer as a FB although he's also played every position on the O line. He is going to test very well athleticlly at the combine (Feldman Freak). I don't know what his arm length is but he plays with good length. Membou is one of three OT this year that haven't given up a Sack or a QB Hit. He's done that will facing guys like Nic Scourton, Shemar Stewart, LT Overton, Kyle Kennard. He did better against those guys than Will Campbell. Second round is looking like it could be the sweet spot for IOL. This years TE class is gonna be deep once again. If they can sign some guys IN FA to fill some holes I wouldn't have a problem taking Warren in 1.
