RE: Bengals fire Lou Anarumo, Frank Pollack, James Bettcher and Marion Hobby - Rubekahn29 - 01-06-2025 I’m really annoyed by this “Lou is a good coach.” Only 1 year, did they finish in the top half of the year. That’s not good for a coach who’s been on a team for 6 years. Lou was simply carried by the 21’ playoff run. Yes, he made Mahomes look mortal, but let’s not forget guys like Mike White, Jacoby Brissett, 36 year old Russell Wilson, Andy Dalton, Cooper Rush. Good D coordinators shut those guys down, and we rarely did. Lou might get a DC job again, but if I had to bet money, it won’t last long and he will go back to being a DB coach. RE: Bengals fire Lou Anarumo, Frank Pollack, James Bettcher and Marion Hobby - Fan_in_Kettering - 01-06-2025 Mass firings after two winning seasons without a playoff appearance is most encouraging. Mikey Boy might really want a Lombardi Trophy in Cincinnati. It could very well turn out to be a case of be careful what you ask for. What Is your deal? Coaches move all the time. It’s part of the game, holding your staff accountable. Fresh starts, fresh ideas. Works great for EVERY OTHER TEAM in the league, and EVERY OTHER SPORT!!!! Why would the Bengals be different? Why the fear? Is sitting on your hands really a working model? But Duke is the reason Lou is gone imo. Really try this time. Once you finish, sit back in your chair and think for at least ten seconds. Ask yourself this question... I think dude is under 20 years old, he thought he got you. RE: Bengals fire Lou Anarumo, Frank Pollack, James Bettcher and Marion Hobby - TheCincinnatiKid - 01-06-2025 Incredible... they actually did it. Pollack had to go. I'm not conflicted on Lou... ultimately, he produced a good unit during those playoff runs (they were great in those runs to be fair).... but really nothing else. Talent of not, he's been here a while and his defence was generally only that 'good' in the playoffs. Now I'd rather we play our best in the playoffs, but his defence absolutely stacked us making the playoffs this year, and wasted an elite season from our QB. Liked the guy, and I do agree he had to try polish a lot of crap on the defence this season as they aren't a talented group, but he had to go. Threw away countless games this year when a single one would've seen us in the playoffs. Yes, I think there is a good chance we could be worse. I hope not, but I also see the possibility. It happens all the time. The best thing to hope for is the team getting several of these players through Free Agency, but I do not see that happening with Tee, Chase and Hendrickson all up for huge contracts. Nope! Enter DC Vance Joseph https://www.si.com/nfl/broncos/news/vance-joseph-keeping-broncos-competitive-each-week Just over a year ago, Denver Broncos defensive coordinator Vance Joseph was in danger of losing his job following a disastrous 70-20 beatdown at the hands of the Miami Dolphins. Through three games last season, the Broncos were 0-3 and searching for answers, having just suffered a historical loss, looking outclassed, outcoached, and out-talented down in South Beach. More and better scouting please. Stop making the coaches scout, and let them concentrate on developing their players. I honestly don’t know if Tobin needs fired, or if he just needs better information. |
