It made it way too easy for Smith to attack that leverage. Watch when he releases. He stems inside to square up with and when he starts turning his hips, Smith A steps back to the outside and has so much space to work with.
He’s in such a tough position there. If he tries to guard the boundary, he’s worried about the post. Because he lets himself float a little bit inside and allow Smith to square up, he gives up the sideline.

In usual Day style, he slammed the brakes on the O plus a fumble helped ND get back in. Oh and OSU consistently tackling receivers before they catch the ball, but not so much after.

Per Paul Dehner, Al Gokden is expected to spend today and tomorrow morning closing things with Notre Dame and is expected to in Cincinnati tomorrow afternoon for the meetings with Zac and the powers that be.

He flipped back & forth the whole time. Howard was just damned near perfect in the first half. IIRC, he was perfect vs zone. Less so vs man, but he ran for 7-8 first downs, too.

Curious that he would "close" things with Notre Dame if he wasn't dead-set on a job with the Bengals.

whether he takes the job or not, though all indications is that he will, there are still end of season things to deal with and don't forget they didn't get back to south Bend until early this morning

Yeah, I didn't get to watch the game as I don't have espn and wasn't going to go to a bar just to watch the game. Lack of aggression is not
something I would like to see in our next DC. While I think Golden may be a better DC for us than Lou, I always wanted Eberflus the most and
hearing about Golden not doing well against the Buckeyes does worry me a touch.

OSU pretty much shut it down midway thru the 3rd quarter. They didn't even look to throw the ball down the field, pretty much just tried to run the ball. Defensively they backed off the wrs and rushed with 3 guys. It would have been a blow out if they kept the pedal down.

100%
