If Tyler Eifert would've stayed healthier than Gronkowski, Andy Dalton might've competed with Tom Brady for Super Bowls. He's an injury case. So was Eric All. They lost Cappa, the best OL on the team not very long ago. The LT played on a broken leg last season and may not really be all that good any more. This line is doo-doo kaka poopy until proven otherwise. Karras is likely to get worse before he gets better. RE: Lucas Patrick - BoomerFan - 03-22-2025 I'm on board, though it is hard not to notice that when we find these bargain players some of them were one hit wonders. Have a good year, go to the Bengals and slouch off or be exposed for your shortcomings. See also Nick Scott. Good post, I am with you on going defense 1st. We just re-signed a good TE, 2 fantastic WR, signed an OG. Absolutely no way Cinci will take RB at 17, unless there is an absolute stud of a offensive lineman that happened to fall to 17 that was a top 10 prospect, we must take the best defensive player still available in my opinion. Lucas Patrick would have to stay healthy to be our worst starting olineman or else he wouldn't be a starting lineman. Who do you want us to sign? Telvin "back ache" Jenkins, Brandon "Dodgy Knee" Schreff, Will "failed physical" Hernandez? It is possible they signed Patrick to allow Hernandez time to be ready in 2025. He is only 6 or 7 months after knee surgery. He may not be available until closer to. the middle of 2025 season. Or they plan on drafting a guard in round after round 1 and feel the guard will need time to develop. We don't know at this point if Patrick is penciled in as the 2025 starter or a backup of multiple positions. It appears Lucas understands he's not penciled in as day 1 starter https://www.bengals.com/news/lucas-patrick-s-experienced-versatility-drawn-to-bengals-firepower-this-is-an-exciting-offense-to-join Quote:"Come in and compete," Patrick said of his role. "See how things shake out. I know there's still a draft and they're probably filling out some more spots. But I'm just fired up to be a Bengal and work with the staff and the players who are here. There are some pretty elite players who will be exciting to be teammates with from what I've seen from a far." This is what they did with Mims and Trent Brown last year. Except Mims was a first-round pick. They may take a guard in round 1, I would be surprised because of our needs on defense. It would be hard to pass up on the BPA when it's someone who, beside being a good receiver, is a good pass blocker for Burrow and run blocker for RBs, and can set up under center for short-yardage runs, a Philly shove, or even a pass. I'm hoping he isn't available because the team needs defense, but if he is, then the Bengals should grab him and make a trade for defense. Imagine having plays where the Bengals have Warren and Geisicki, Chase Brown, and Ja'Marr and Tee. The opposing defense would have no idea what is coming. The Bengals could even have 5 receivers, without the defense knowing that. And the Bengals could go for it on every 4th and 1. But, if the best safety in this draft is sitting there also, he can also be a long term stud on defense. We have one defensive stud on our roster. We have 3 offensive studs on our roster. Our offense is very good and our defense is very bad. I hope they choose the safety. RE: Lucas Patrick - The D.O.Z. - 03-22-2025 The only G I would spend a first on, in THIS draft, would be the kid from OSU. He doesn’t have a first round grade on him, but his ability to play LT is a boon that can’t be ignored. If he can do this at the professional level, you’d be looking at a OBJr. replacement down the road in the not so distant future. I wouldn’t reach at 17 for him though. I’d trade back a bit, pick up an extra pick or two, and snatch him up late first round. Gives us that fifth year option to use too. Then I’d spend the rest of my picks loading up Golden’s defense unless a nice complementary RB fell late. RE: Lucas Patrick - Frank Booth - 03-22-2025 (7 hours ago)The D.O.Z. If nothingfor nothing else than for the competition for the job. Volson lost his starting spot last year. Cody Ford was on the verge of starting. Somebody is going to have to be mean enough to take the spots this year. RE: Lucas Patrick - SunsetBengal - 03-22-2025 (Yesterday, 10:44 PM)BengalsBong Wrote: This. We need guard help now if we had a year to coach him up at the position then converting a OT to G would be ok. Donovan Jackson would be a great prospect. He first cracked the starting five as a RG, before being promoted to LG and eventually doing a stellar job as the the LT for half of the season. Talented, athletic, aggressive, good hands and feet. RE: Lucas Patrick - Soonerpeace - 03-22-2025 I think Scott Peters has a plan and it’s not just finding glass eaters. I think between Volson, Patrick, Ford, and an early guard in the draft they will end there. This team has a lot of needs. They can’t address them all in the draft and FA. I’m predicting a much better OL. Jaxon Kirkland is the player to watch. But I think it unlikely he gets to us. Ditto Will Campbell or Membou. I think those are the only offensive guys I would take at 17. No on Jeanty and Booker and any of the WRs. Loveland MAYBE if he can block, no if he is a big slot. RE: Lucas Patrick - Bengalfan4life27c - 03-22-2025 worst case scenario we go with 2 of the 3 of Volson Ford Patrick RE: Lucas Patrick - Isaac Curtis: The Real #85 - 03-22-2025 (7 hours ago)Soonerpeace Wrote: I think Scott Peters has a plan and it’s not just finding glass eaters.
