Greatest band/artists - JustWinBaby - 04-18-2017 The other thread about popular bands you don't like got me to thinking.... Who do you think are the most artistic/influential bands or singers? My qualifications would be the ability to crank out multiple hits that are original (which includes not making multiple recordings that are very similar to their own other hits). If you add the ability to find success in multiple genres, then you're on an even other level. I'll start with Ray Charles. RE: Greatest band/artists - Tiger Teeth - 04-19-2017 I would think many groups would list Led Zeppelin as influential. RE: Greatest band/artists - Storer50 - 04-19-2017 Carl Perkins Sent from my SM-G935P using Tapatalk RE: Greatest band/artists - BengalHawk62 - 04-19-2017 Willie Nelson RE: Greatest band/artists - Wyche'sWarrior - 04-19-2017 Waylon Jennings Buddy Guy.....SO many guitarists were influenced by this cat. John Lee Hooker. Came up with "the boogie beat".....the backbone to rock n roll. Pink Floyd. NOBODY sounds like them.....instantly recognizable. Ice-T. The FIRST gangster rap artist. The Sugarhill Gang Jerry Lee Lewis.....killed it in rock n roll, then went straight honky tonk and killed that too. BB King Muddy Waters RE: Greatest band/artists - jason - 04-19-2017 Johnny Cash effortlessly blurred the lines between country, rock n roll, and gospel. The late Chuck Berry showed folks what an electric guitar can do. Was Black Sabbath the first metal band? I'm not sure how many pop or rock singer/ songwriters predate Buddy Holly.
