Strange flowering weeds/vines - grampahol - 07-12-2018 These grow and bloom in the backyard here in SC.. I have absolutely no clue what the name of this plant is..but it's kind of unique. Any horticulturists out there? Almost looks like it's made from spare parts. lol RE: Strange flowering weeds/vines - SunsetBengal - 07-12-2018 That is strange. Looks almost like someone mixed a flowering plant with kudzu. RE: Strange flowering weeds/vines - grampahol - 07-13-2018 I found out that it's actually the passion flower.. And is actually sought after by certain researchers. I might start propagating them to sell . You never know what profits might lurk among the weeds in the backyard. lol http://eol.org/pages/486617/details RE: Strange flowering weeds/vines - Tiger Teeth - 07-13-2018 Looks like a Venus Fly Trap. RE: Strange flowering weeds/vines - fredtoast - 07-13-2018 "Native Americans traditionally used P. incarnata for its sedative and anxioltyic properties, in addition to eating the sweet fruit. These medicinal uses have been expanded upon in recent years, with P. incarnata extracts being shown to treat withdrawal symptoms and exhibit an aphrodisiac effect," Send me some seeds. RE: Strange flowering weeds/vines - BengalHawk62 - 07-19-2018 Are you sure its not Hogsweed or Wild Parsnip? I've heard if you break the stems and rub the oil on your skin, you'll get a nice tan. RE: Strange flowering weeds/vines - Nebuchadnezzar - 07-20-2018 Whatever you do, do not fall to sleep around any of these flowers...especially if you have a dog with you. Quote:North Carolina Agriculture Agent Chad Taylor has seen several patches of the toxic Giant Hogweed in recent weeks, but nothing like the one found in Blowing Rock on Thursday.Nasty plant you really don't want growing in your neighborhood..much worse than poison ivy.. https://www.charlotteobserver.com/news/local/article215220210.html If you run across the plant report it to local authorities or if you don't mind risking your freedom bag it up and ship it to 3400 South Water Street. Pittsburgh, PA 15203 Attention : Team snacks enclosed.. (don't actually do this as it's really illegal and stuff) |
