Next year - Bengalzona - 08-16-2018 Next year, it will have been 30 years since our last Superbowl appearance. RE: Next year - SunsetBengal - 08-16-2018 So, are suggesting that they're waiting for that landmark anniversary, in order to make another visit to the championship game? RE: Next year - bengals67 - 08-16-2018 does any NFL coach in history have a longer tenure without winning a single playoff game than Marvin. I seriously doubt anyone is close but maybe someone has better info than me. How many NFL teams go 15 years without a playoff win, whether they keep the same HC or not? That legitimately narrows the list down, I'm sure. I actually wonder how the city will take a PO win. Will they shut the city down, throw a parade, name a few streets after the coach? Maybe make a documentary? Will they shut the city down, throw a parade, name a few streets after the coach? Maybe make a documentary? I will say that I'd personally count a first round bye as a "win" by default. Additionally, I was pretty sure 2015 was our year because the Jets were going to be the 6th seed and Fitzpatrick was going to come into here in his first playoff game and put on a 4 INT meltdown that would break our drought by default. Alas, he melted down a week early, let the Steelers in, and the rest is history. In 28 years we should have been able to win a fluke game like that. It takes legitimate effort to not win for such a long time in the NFL, and the Bengals and the Lions are really the only ones who have pulled it off...with an honorable mention for the expansion Browns. RE: Next year - The Caped Crusader - 08-16-2018 That hurts...the streak of no playoff wins hurts more though. Already lived it. In optimistic mode right now per having solid off season for a change. I will say it's easier to be optimistic about our solid changes when you don't mention them to fans of other teams. ME: Hey, the Bengals fired Ken Zampese! Non-Bengals Fan: You mean that guy who never should have been an OC in the first place? ME: Um, yeah...I guess so now that you mention it. ME: Hey, the Bengals are building their o-line! Non-Bengals Fan: Shouldn't they have done that like 2 years ago? ME: Um, yeah...I guess so now that you mention it. FAST FORWARD TO THE YEAR 20XX ME: Hey, the Bengals fired Marvin Lewis! Non-Bengals Fan: Shouldn't they have done that like 42 years ago? ME: Um, yeah...I guess so now that you mention it. I suspect that the only thing that may lead to Marvy getting canned might just be a playoff win. He wins one and they can him. Classic MB move! Never in NFL history has a playoff game seen defeat snatched from the jaws of victory like that. Wallowing in misery is all some people around here like to do. Some even start a year in advance. RE: Next year - fredtoast - 08-16-2018 (08-16-2018, 04:46 PM)Nately120 Wrote: I hear ya. But I do seem to recall you claiming that Jay Gruden should never have been hired as an OC. Hindsight is 20/20. |
