The Rest of FA & Mock w/ Trades - c12schleyer - 03-22-2019 SIGNED PLAYERS Name Position Cap Hit Trey Hopkins G 1,400,000 Preston Brown LB 1,000,000 Darqueze Dennard CB 4,200,000 Josh Shaw CB 1,000,000 Sean Mannion QB 3,500,000 Jimmie Ward S 4,500,000 Gerald McCoy DL 4,500,000 TRADES TRADE PARTNER: MINNESOTA VIKINGS SENT: • ROUND: 1 PICK: 11 RECEIVED: • ROUND: 1 PICK: 18 • ROUND: 3 PICK: 17 TRADE PARTNER: MIAMI DOLPHINS SENT: • ANDY DALTON RECEIVED: • ROUND: 2 PICK: 16 • ROUND: 4 PICK: 14 MY PICKS With the trades above, I was able to accumulate three additional picks (an extra 2, 3, and 4). With the holes we need to fill on this team I feel this makes too much sense not to consider. This draft fills the holes on the OL (Risner, Jenkins, Udoh, and Stallings), gives us a QB for the future, replenishes the weak LB corps, and fills in a few needs throughout the rest of the roster without reaching. 18: R1P18 OT DALTON RISNER KANSAS STATE 42: R2P10 LB MACK WILSON ALABAMA 48: R2P16 QB DANIEL JONES DUKE 72: R3P8 S JUAN THORNHILL VIRGINIA 81: R3P17 C ELGTON JENKINS MISSISSIPPI STATE 110: R4P8 LB TE'VON CONEY NOTRE DAME 116: R4P14 TE JACE STERNBERGER TEXAS A&M 149: R5P11 EDGE SHAREEF MILLER PENN STATE 183: R6P10 CB JIMMY MORELAND JAMES MADISON 198: R6P25 CB HAMP CHEEVERS BOSTON COLLEGE 210: R6P37 OT OLI UDOH ELON 211: R6P38 DL DEMARCUS CHRISTMAS FLORIDA STATE 213: R6P40 LB KENDALL JOSEPH CLEMSON 223: R7P9 G BUNCHY STALLINGS – KENTUCKY RE: The Rest of FA & Mock w/ Trades - psychdoctor - 03-22-2019 I liked your creativity. I like Jones but I also like Stidham better. I do not think trading Dalton this year for 2 & 4 would work. Maybe next year otherwise this year's momentum would stall and struggle to win 3-4 games; the results could be a disaster Taylor's first year. I like Stidham, but feel like comparing the tape, Jones is a better NFL Talent. I could be wrong, but he screams of a guy that fits Taylor's scheme. To offset the initial learning curve for Jones, I brought in Mannion who is familiar with Taylor and he could provide a bridge to Jones as well as some mentoring. As much as I hate to say this, I don't know if this team even with a strong draft can compete this year. I think we are a year away. I do not know Mannion well. I think if Dalton goes, Green should be traded as well. I know Many will hate me for saying this. Dalton hasn't been bad IMO, but typically with a new coach comes a new QB... not always a new WR. I'm not even sure what we could get for Green, honestly. We won't get OBJ value and the next step down would be AB value (if you exclude the crazy deal for Cooper last year). RE: The Rest of FA & Mock w/ Trades - ochocincos - 03-22-2019 The only QBs from this draft class I'm interested in are Murray (but legit concerns of him being used properly), Haskins (even though just 1 year experience), and Will Grier. I would take Murray or Haskins as well, but Grier terrifies me. He has all the arm talent in the world, but the system he played in scares me, he has a tendency to force his hand, and his personality for some reason rubs me the wrong way. Don't get me wrong, if we took him in the third I would be happy, but scared at the same time. I would love to see a trade in the ball park of this... Bengals trade- Green #11 pick to Raiders Raiders trade- #24 pick #27 pick #35 pick RE: The Rest of FA & Mock w/ Trades - Au165 - 03-22-2019 (03-22-2019, 10:30 AM)c12schleyer Wrote: Crazy thought, and this is me being creative again. If we do trade Green... I would love to see a trade in the ball park of this...He wouldn't warrant 1 first round pick let alone two and a high 2nd. He is a 30+ year old WR who has had multiple foot injuries and is due a large contract extension. If you got pick 35 for him it would probably be a good deal. RE: The Rest of FA & Mock w/ Trades - Au165 - 03-22-2019 Other thing here, the Dolphins just got rid of Ryan Tannehill who is a slightly worse Andy Dalton in favor of finding a young QB this year or next. Why the heck would the trade for Dalton? You're right, he alone wouldn't warrant 2 1sts and a 2nd, but paired up with our 1st the trade makes sense from a value perspective. The Raiders see that they essentially flip Cooper for Green (upgrade) and use their remaining first and early second to move up 10+ spots in the draft. It isn't as crazy as it sounds. Why the heck would the trade for Dalton? The Dolphins bring in a bridge QB with decent starter experience and no dead cap space if traded or cut. They can still select their QB of the future in the draft. It is a stretch I suppose, but I honestly thing their would be a market for Andy that brings this kind of offer, even if it isn't Miami. Yes it is crazy. Our first is worth 24 and 35 on it's own, so they are essentially trading 27 for Green straight up. The real issue here is they have no need for AJ. They just signed Brown to the highest WR contract and signed Tyrell Williams to a solid deal. They aren't trading for a 30+ year old WR and paying him big money as well. Quote:One NFL scout in Morgantown, W.V., just texted that QB Will Grier “put on a show” for NFL Teams in attendance and predicted he’s “a riser.”https://twitter.com/AdamSchefter/status/1108753450236551168 What specifically about Grier "terrifies" you? For me, I see a lot of Andy Dalton in his game but with a better deep ball. I don't understand the "forcing of the hand" comment, as Grier passed for a high completion percentage, a lot of yards, a lot of TDs, and few INTs. Sure, he had a couple bad games, but every QB does. They both were knocked for bad footwork and they both improved it for their pro day making people feel better after it. The issue though is poor footwork is easy to revert back to as we saw with Smith at times early in his career. Be careful getting caught up in stats as the Air Raid in the big 12 has been a stat pad'er for years at various programs. He is a solid QB but I have questions on how well he will read complex zone defenses in the NFL because he pretty much never had to do it in college with that offense. I think Grier is a fine day 2 prospect, but I think his odds of being successful are similar to other day 2 QB's...not great. I tend to agree with this assessment. Grier would not be much improvement over Dalton RE: The Rest of FA & Mock w/ Trades - psychdoctor - 03-22-2019 (03-22-2019, 10:53 AM)c12schleyer Wrote: This is how the draft played out when I made that trade too. This draft would be fantastic but would never happen.
