History Repeating Itself? - PhilHos - 09-23-2019

In 2003, after being named the Bengals new head coach, Marvin Lewis opened up his rookie head coaching season with 3 straight losses to the Broncos (who would finish 10-6), Oakland Raiders (who would finish 4-12), and the Pittsburgh Steelers (who would finish 6-10). The Bengals then won the first game ever in the Marvin Lewis in the 4th game of the season against the Cleveland Browns (who would go on to finish 5-11).

As we all remember, the Bengals ended up going 7-5 for the rest of the season to end up at 8-8. (Note, too, that we were at 8-6 before losing our final 2 games to the Rams and Browns).

Could we, will we see a similar ending here?

Granted, we want Zac to be a better HC than ML, but ML isn't the worst coach ever to end up as.

The LB's are going to have to learn how to tackle and the line learn how to block...and then maybe!

Preston has looked good in 2 of the games hes played this season. Vigil had his best game of the season against Bills

History is repeating itself in that for back-to-back weeks now we have had new threads talking about how history is going to repeat itself by trying to draw parallels to past seasons where the Bengals turned it around.

I'm going to keep assuming that a bad team will continue to be bad.

36-year-old Frank Gore went for 14/76(5.4)/1
Allen added another 9/46(5.1) on the ground
3rd string rookie TE Dawson Knox went 3/67/1

That's Preston looking good and Vigil having his best game of the season?

The Bengals are the 31st rush defense in the league, only better than the Dolphins who are literally doing everything they can to be the worst team in the league.
