We can win in the playoffs - Here's proof - BengalChris - 09-23-2015

I came across this video tonight and thought it would be worth posting.

Some noteworthy similarities between this team and our current team.

Very good OL
Excellent CBs: Louis Breeden and Ken Riley, two great ones.
Lots of good receivers: Collinsworth, Isaac Curtis (aging) and Dan Ross.
Big running back
QB with the number 14
Best LB number 55

One big difference between these two teams

Marvin Lewis=2015
Forrest Gregg=1981

Does that mean we win this game but lose the Super Bowl and Phillip Rivers makes the HOF despite never even playing in a Super Bowl like Fouts?

The Freezer Bowl was over the minute Cincy's Offensive line came out in short sleeves....

In all fairness, Fouts was a great QB. Many players have been voted into the HOF without playing in a SB. Kenny Anderson and Ken Riley deserve to be there as well.

Kenny Anderson had an MVP and three or four passing titles (forget the exact number) and Ken Riley is still in the top 5 all time defenders with the most INTs and that was in a day when there wasn't nearly as many passes to intercept.

Remember those days.....ahhhhhhh so sweet and then well.

Anyone remember those Tops trading card books around that time ? I can't remember the exact format or whatever. Seems like they were magazine like and you had like the top 10 players from every team on each page. And then filled in the holes with the stickers.

Yeah, a team is clearly more likely to win a playoff game with a coach who was losing career record and has never made the playoffs before than with a coach with a winning record who has made the postseason 6 times.

Forrest Gregg was an NFL head coach for 11 years. He only had 3 winning seasons. He only made the playoff twice and only win a postseason game one year.

Lewis has had a far better coaching career the Gregg.

Yet Lewis hasn't won a playoff game. So how good is that career?  Your argument was as strong as the Bengals in the post season in the Lewis era. Over before it started.
