Willie weighs in on Bengals criticism - SunsetBengal - 02-21-2020 Willie Anderson expresses his feelings on the incessant media criticism of the Bengals organization. Also, John Ross practicing with Burrow and Houshmanzadeh. https://www.bengals.com/news/big-willie-has-his-say-john-ross-burrows-into-workouts Quote:While current Bengals have taken to twitter to blast shaky talking points surrounding their team, one of the franchise legends did it the old-fashioned way and answered the phone. RE: Willie weighs in on Bengals criticism - SunsetBengal - 02-21-2020 Also worth noting that Willie said that although the Bengals need to get better up front (OL), they played better in the last 5 games of the year than most people realize. RE: Willie weighs in on Bengals criticism - Au165 - 02-21-2020 Burrow working out with Ross is kind of interesting. RE: Willie weighs in on Bengals criticism - bengaloo - 02-21-2020 Willie is a class act. Funny how different his outlook is to Carson's. Willie actually dares to take some accountability and put some on players. Carson blames ownership and talks like he could've run the team better himself. I wonder if that has anything to do with the fact that Willie actually is a hof caliber player, and Carson isnt? Glad to see Ross working with our future QB! Getting some chemistry early is a good thing. RE: Willie weighs in on Bengals criticism - Big Boss - 02-21-2020 I bag on Mike Brown as much as the next guy, but this is perhaps my favorite quote from Anderson and I'm glad an ex-Bengal finally came out and said it: Quote:There were games we had in the mix and we lost and Mike Brown didn't have anything to do with it. If I missed a block or Carson missed a pass or somebody missed a tackle. I don't know how you blame that on executives. This organization has its faults. Plenty of them. But placing the playoff losses at Mike Brown's feet isn't entirely fair. His organization put together those playoff squads. It's not his fault that the coaches and players then failed to execute. RE: Willie weighs in on Bengals criticism - Nicomo Cosca - 02-21-2020 Ross working with Burrow... But sure when willie says it.. RE: Willie weighs in on Bengals criticism - SunsetBengal - 02-21-2020 (02-21-2020, 11:29 AM)Au165 Wrote: Burrow working out with Ross is kind of interesting. If he can stay in one piece, and play like he did in the those first 3 games last season, combined with a return of AJ, this offense could be fun to watch. RE: Willie weighs in on Bengals criticism - jj22 - 02-21-2020 Carson had it all. Star wideouts, star rb, star studded Oline. FA signings that produced probowlers on Defense. His attacks on the Organization has done the unthinkable and rallied the fans around MB and co. The words of a former star player stating essentially that "They had put together a really good team, they just didn't get the job done"; is what we refer to as "brutal honesty" or "the cold, hard truth". RE: Willie weighs in on Bengals criticism - Big Boss - 02-21-2020 John Ross Jordan Palmer TJ Houshmandzadeh and (supposedly) dinner with Chad Johnson He seems to be surrounding himself with Bengals. All Carson stuff aside, you do realize the Steelers and Ravens alone at that time had top 3 defenses and multiple HOF players and SB MVPs on their team, right? I think this notion that the 2003-2010 Bengals had a stacked roster outside of the QB might be a bit overblown here. RE: Willie weighs in on Bengals criticism - bengalfan74 - 02-21-2020 I've been hard on Mike Brown myself and to be quite honest he deserves a lot of the criticism he gets. But Carson Palmer painting the gloomy picture that he was only held back by MB is in large part revisionist history. He was on some pretty good teams early on and couldn't get it done. Could MB have done more in the later years ? Yes, But for him to act like nothing was his fault is nuts. Palmer begged for T.O. and got him then fell on his face. But back to Big Willie, he is right. For the media to be so blatantly disrespectful to the Bengals teams past and present is wrong. The media acts like the Bengals haven't won a game since the Reagan administration. I fully believe no other team in the NFL, Lions, Redskins, Browns, Jags, Dolphins, Cardinals, pick your scrub of last 10 years or so. Many of whom have done worse than the Bengals would have anything close to this level of disrespect were they in our position. I agree for the most part but it comes back to the Bengals having MB at the helm as owner/GM for almost 30 years. That and even when we are good we never make that push into the playoff games non fans are forced to watch. We haven't succeeded in the games no football Fan can ignore. The hope for Burrow is that he's going to be so good that even being in Cincy won't hide him from the NFL fans as a whole.
