Unexpected Roles... - Nebuchadnezzar - 06-03-2020 Good actor or bad, name an actor and movie that surprised you and would recommend. My first movie stars Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson called "Faster". This movie tripped me out because its rather dark and you do not expect Dwayne Johnson to be on this type of movie or play the role he played. Another movie that surprised me is " Next" starring Nicholas Cage. While Cage, in my opinion, isn't a very good actor, he played this role rather well. I do not like Alec Baldwin but I have to say he played the best "Jack Ryan" in any of the Tom Clancy movies and that movie is "The Hunt For Red October". He played " Jack Ryan" very well and I believe its his best role. I'm watching the movie right now for the 100th time, lol. Ben Aflacks best movie is "Company Men". Well, its a toss up between " Company Men" and "The Town". Both are good movies. I like Bruce Willis and his best movie in my opinion is " The Fifth Element ". Its a great story and the music is top notch. Brad Pitt was great in " Snatch" and "Twelve Monkeys". Seriously, he plays crazy rather well. RE: Unexpected Roles... - fredtoast - 06-04-2020 Not sure what you mean by "unexpected" but Tom Cruise is almost unrecognizable in Tropic Thunder. He steals every scene he is in. RE: Unexpected Roles... - oncemoreuntothejimbreech - 06-04-2020 I recently watched Colossal with Anne Hathaway and Jason Sudeikis. Sudeikis' character at first is typical for him; good guy everyman. But, as the movie progresses his character turns into something much different. Kind of character I wouldn't expect him to play, but he did a very good job. RE: Unexpected Roles... - oncemoreuntothejimbreech - 06-04-2020 Oh, Peter Sellers in Being There. It's a dry political comedy that is still funny today. Plus it's like a late 1970s time capsule. It's not LOL funny, more satirical funny. RE: Unexpected Roles... - fredtoast - 06-05-2020 there was a movie back in the '90's called "Hurlyburly" about the crazy lifestyles of a group of people in the movie industry in Hollywood. It was not much of a hit, but I liked it a lot. It was almost all dialogue, but the characters were great. This was back when Meg Ryan was a huge star playing the cute, innocent love interest in a series of romantic comedies, but in Hurlyburly she played a nasty prostitute. Very out-of-character for her. |
