2020 Hard Knocks ratings way down - George Cantstandya - 08-13-2020 https://sports.yahoo.com/ratings-way-down-hard-knocks-135422022.html Quote:The first episode of this year’s NFL training camp reality show drew just 273,000 viewers, according to Austin Karp of Sports Business Journal. That’s a huge decline from the 705,000 who watched the first episode last year, and may be the smallest audience ever for any episode of Hard Knocks. I wonder if the 2 team format had something to do with that? As for me I ditched cable TV earlier this year because they raised my rate over $50 a month. I got sick of their prices raises so gave them the finger and went to a streaming service. So I don't have HBO anymore. I probably would have watched just for some sports related content but I wasn't interested enough to add the HBO package to my streaming service. Could also be that nobody truly cares about the LA teams, as many have speculated for a while now. I hear you on the cable, but Sunday Ticket is still on TV and I need them... **** DAZN with their screw ups and mistakes, not to mention my TV doesn't do streaming outside of YT and Netflix (which I don't have either). I also got rid of my Sky TV subscription a few years ago which saves me over £100 a month, now i just get all my sports free through kodi RE: 2020 Hard Knocks ratings way down - CJD - 08-13-2020 I don't know about you guys, but my hype level surrounding the NFL in general is WAY down from where it was a year ago. Not because of my team, but just because I know this season will be so fundamentally different from any other season. And the fact that it could be, at any moment, cancelled. The fact that there has been no off season also means that we have not had any lead up to the season, which significantly hurts the hype too. Pre-season games and the fight for those last 5 to 10 roster spots is always a massive storyline for hard knocks, so I think not having those will also hurt the show. RE: 2020 Hard Knocks ratings way down - oncemoreuntothejimbreech - 08-13-2020 I missed the premiere because I didn’t know when it started. I saw the repeat episode last night. Chargers coach told his players this season may come down to the team that handles the pandemic the best. Seemed like the Chargers’ players were bit more consistent with the virus mitigation strategies. I was impressed with the effort and expense the Rams dedicated to building a temporary training tent just to deal with Covid. RE: 2020 Hard Knocks ratings way down - Sled21 - 08-14-2020 NFL missed to boat again on this one. They went with 2 LA teams noboby cares about, instead of going with a Heisman winning record setting rookie QB and an aging WR striving to make a comeback. New coaches, unprecedented (for this team) Free Agency, Heisman QB, there were a whole lot more storylines to be had in Cincinnati. And before someone says small market, the Bengals episodes were some of the highest ratings. RE: 2020 Hard Knocks ratings way down - George Cantstandya - 08-15-2020 For those interested that don't have HBO, I just saw an article that said the 1st episode is free to view until Tuesday. Looks like you can watch it online here: https://www.hbo.com/watch-free-episodes I just checked it out and it asks for an email address when you click play. I suppose I could just enter one I use for junk email but not sure if I even care enough to do that. Edit: Here it is on NFL.com without having to use an email address: https://www.nfl.com/videos/hard-knocks-los-angeles-watch-episode-1 RE: 2020 Hard Knocks ratings way down - BengalChris - 08-18-2020 (08-13-2020, 11:55 AM)George Cantstandya Wrote: https://sports.yahoo.com/ratings-way-down-hard-knocks-135422022.html It's a sign of things to come. The NBA's ratings are way down, even for "big games". RE: 2020 Hard Knocks ratings way down - Nicomo Cosca - 08-20-2020 Whit was featured heavily in episode 2. |
