Offensive Improvement - PhilHos - 10-05-2020 Here's a look at the Bengals offense as compared to last year (all stats taken from https://www.espn.com/nfl/stats/team/_/season/2020/seasontype/2/table/passing/sort/totalPointsPerGame/dir/desc ): Total Yards Per Game 2019 - 323.1 2020 - 364.3 Pass Yards Per Game 2019 - 228.3 2020 - 253.5 Rush Yards Per Game 2019 - 94.8 2020 - 110.8 Points Per Game 2019 - 17.4 2020 - 24.8 I've wanted a new playcaller as much as anybody after last season, but you gotta admit, Taylor's doing a better job so far this season. Sure, it helps having Burrow and we're not exactly a top 15 offense (yet?), but there's been a definite improvement. RE: Offensive Improvement - thillan - 10-05-2020 I’m not so sure I’m against Taylor right now. I mean, in the first game Burrow missed like 3-4 easy deep throws for touchdowns, and Bullock missed an easy kick to send it to OT. Then we keep fighting against the Browns, but allow them to gash huge runs at the end, extremely poor tackling. Eagles game maybe? I honestly think our record is more of players not making plays than coaching. We’ve been putting up points every game. EDIT: Baltimore could be telling as well, but. I don’t think we stand a chance anyways. I think it’ll look ugly. RE: Offensive Improvement - PhilHos - 10-05-2020 (10-05-2020, 10:53 AM)thillan Wrote: I’m not so sure I’m against Taylor right now. This season, we've scored 23 or more points in 3 of our 4 games. Last season we scored 23 or more points in 3 of 16 games. RE: Offensive Improvement - ochocincos - 10-05-2020 Imagine how much better the team might be if instead of paying AJ Green $18 mill for 30 yard per game average, they paid one upper-tier OL like Conklin, Bulaga, or Wagner. The Bengals have XSF for two more years after this who can man one of the OG spots, so they can right their wrong by going after a stud OL in FA and then drafting one in Rds 1-2, as this team can be good with good OL play. RE: Offensive Improvement - Devils Advocate - 10-05-2020 This team could easily be 4-0 or 3-1.taylor has been underwhelming most of the time, but he has definitely improved. I’m Not completely sold on him but I don’t think we should give up either. He’s actually not doing too bad this year. A bit understandable given his lack of preseason games among other COVID challenges. If I am Burrow, I am not opening any mail from pitt or Baltimore...might have COVID inside RE: Offensive Improvement - Yojimbo - 10-05-2020 I’m more interested in where they rank amongst the rest of the league. Is offense up for everybody? RE: Offensive Improvement - ochocincos - 10-05-2020 (10-05-2020, 11:47 AM)Yojimbo Wrote: I’m more interested in where they rank amongst the rest of the league. You are who you are in this league pretty much from week-to-week and a team is defined that way. That old adage that a team is never as good/bad as it plays is true as most games come down to less than a handful of plays and/or penalties. The inconsistencies of these officials really narrows the gap even more. 2-3 calls/ missed plays by inches and they easily could be 3-1. Today's games aren't going to shake this up Updated #Bengals rankings: Total O: 20 Rush O: 19 Pass O: 16 Scoring O: 19t RE: Offensive Improvement - BengalChris - 10-05-2020 So far the Bengals have only played bottom feeder teams. All had losing records last season and only the Browns have put up more than one win. They faced one top 10 defense and it was only 9th Eagles - 9th Chargers - 19th Jags - 23rd Browns - 25th They have not faced a top 5 defense yet so time to wait and see how they do when they do. Our defense has faced Browns - 13 Chargers - 8 Jags - 19 Eagles - 28 So our defense early sample has had tougher competition, but again just 4 games for each side of the ball |
