RE: 2021 NFL Mock Draft Challenge: January - SHRacerX - 01-08-2021

Used Fanspeak:

R1 P5 OT Penei Sewell - Oregon-  He was there, and I wasn't stupid

R2 P5 DL Daviyon Nixon - Iowa- Ditto.  Beast inside, and underrated.

R3 P5 C Josh Myers - Ohio State- This will make some people cringe, but he isn't Price and Elflein.  Plus, we may need a center.  If not, he could be a valuable asset as a guard as well.

R4 P5 WR Anthony Schwartz - Auburn-  Speed to burn that has better hands than the better known Toney (who went in the 3rd round)

R5 P5 EDGE Chris Rumph II - Duke-  My joker that doesn't fit the Bengals history, but this guy is a freak that just doesn't get stopped.  I want him.

R6 P5 LB Dimitri Moore - Vanderbilt:  Tackling machine on a bad team in the best conference.

R7 P5 TE Chase Allen - Iowa State:  Blocking game will need work, but he's tough enough just wasn't asked to do it very often.  Good hands, feet, and speed.  My guy Quinten Morris from BGSU went three picks earlier....groan.

RE: 2021 NFL Mock Draft Challenge: January - Au165 - 01-11-2021

5: R1 P5 OT Penei Sewell - Oregon

I have been the guy who has pushed hard not to go OT here, however, I made the assumption we didn't quite go all-in on O line like the rumor says so instead I went with the safe pick here at 5 to ensure the tackles are set for a while.

37: R2 P5 LB Zaven Collins - Tulsa

This guy is one of my favorite players in the draft and I am sure he is long gone before 37, but in this simulation, he was there so I took him. Some will point out I didn't get any EDGE players, however, Collins can be an EDGE or stack backer and his versatility reminds me a lot of TJ Watt.

69: R3 P5 C Creed Humphrey - Oklahoma

Value play here in the 3rd but the timing for us is fortuitous as Hopkins will miss the first part of the year with a torn ACL so Humphrey will bring his three years of starts to Cincy as a rookie and start for us day 1. Once Hopkins returns they can battle out to kick to a guard spot.

107: R4 P5 TE Brevin Jordan - Miami

Before there was Kyle Pitts there was Brevin Jordan. Entering the year he was believed to be a potential 1st round pick and TE1. While his year didn't quite go as expected he still possesses all the skills that had people talking before the year. In the 4th round, this was a straight value play that should make the Sample haters happy.

146: R5 P5 DL Haskell Garrett - Ohio State

It's a little late for my liking to dip our toe in the water for DL but this is where we landed. I like Garrett alot but his lack of experience is what drops him down the board. Was he a one year wonder? I'm not sure but here on day 3 these 3 technique could give us a lot of upside.

184: R6 P5 S James Wiggins - Cincinnati

With Shawn Williams most likely gone and Brandon Wilson a potential FA our safety depth is looking, suspect. Wiggins was one of the best players on a really good Bearcats defense and anytime you can get a guy like that in the 6th you pull the trigger.

227: R7 P5 CB Shakur Brown - Michigan State

This isn't about addressing Alexander or Jackson, this is a move to make sure a guy like Sims never sees snaps here again. I like Brown and thought he had a chance to go much earlier entering the year. I think there is still a lot of upside here to work on and he could be a nice depth piece in time.

229: R7 P7 WR Whop Philyor - Indiana

In round 7 you got to take a guy with the name Whop! Joking aside, the four-year starter at Indiana has a chance to breakout in the NFL. While not always getting a ton of targets due to being lined up across from Ty Fryfogle (Who probably is drafted on day 2) he made the most of his chances picking up 9.2 yards per reception this past season.

I'll take the trophy this month with this unreal haul from my first fanspeak of the year with their big board

TEAM PICKS
5: R1 P5 OT Penei Sewell - Oregon
38: R2 P6 TE Kyle Pitts - Florida
69: R3 P5 DL Christian Barmore - Alabama
108: R4 P6 CB Tyson Campbell - Georgia

Didn't realize our extra 7th would be 7th overall in round 7? Lucky 7s big money no whammies?

RE: 2021 NFL Mock Draft Challenge: January - Goalpost - 01-16-2021

Went with Profootball network on this one

1. Kyle Pitts TE Great athletic ability for his size. Definition of a mismatch. No real book how to cover him.

2. Jevon Holland S. Can play slot corner as well. Returns punts. Aggressive tackler and can make picks. All around talent

3. Jaylen Twyman DT Can win with his hands, but he's a natural athlete first and foremost

4. Ben Cleveland G. He can pull some but his game is mainly strength

5. Landon Young T. Not complete but he pass protects well

6. Cornell Powell WR. Same school as Tee where the results were good

7. Wyatt Huber EDGE 260 with some burst

7. Drew Dalman C Worth a look/see to have another center.

I don’t even see the point of doing these when they’re this unrealistic. Nixon in the 5th? Pitts in the 2nd? Absurd.

RE: 2021 NFL Mock Draft Challenge: January - bfine32 - 01-16-2021

Went with FinesFantasyFootball on this one

1. PENEI SEWELL- Project that can be a swing tackle for a few years

2. DEVONTA SMITH- Useful #4 WR and insurance for Erickson at PR in case of injury

3. PATRICK SURTAIN II- Borderline starter that can be employed in our dime D.

4. KWITY PAYE- Situational pass rusher with ST ability

5. KYLE PITTS- Perhaps an upgrade over Cethan Carter. Good for depth

6. WYATT DAVIS- Can sub at all 3 interior oline spots

7. MICAH PARSONS- This one is for Simmons to use on ST and perhaps spell Jordan Mills as out 5th LB

7. TREVOR LAWRENCE- TC battle with Finley for the back up role. Maybe a year on the PS

RE: 2021 NFL Mock Draft Challenge: January - SunsetBengal - 01-17-2021

TDN 1.17.21

Quote:5. Cincinnati Bengals
Penei Sewell OT, Oregon

37. Cincinnati Bengals
Jaelan Phillips EDGE, Miami

69. Cincinnati Bengals
Paulson Adebo CB, Stanford

108. Cincinnati Bengals
Anthony Schwartz WR, Auburn

147. Cincinnati Bengals
Drake Jackson IOL, Kentucky

185. Cincinnati Bengals
Bobby Brown III IDL, Texas A&M

228. Cincinnati Bengals
Damon Hazelton WR, Missouri

246. Cincinnati Bengals
Paddy Fisher LB, Northwestern

Obviously my primary objective was to pay attention to both lines, selecting both an interior and edge player for each. Drake caught my attention in the 5th, as his scouting report described him as "the quick man on combo blocks, and has power to drive man off the ball in A gap". That athleticism should translate nicely to Pollack's Wide Zone blocking scheme. We discovered this year that you can never have too many capable DTs, so with Brown being a huge, powerful, space eating type of man; I figure that Hobby should be able to develop him into a rotational player as a 6th round rookie.

Adebo projects as a starting boundary CB in the 3rd. Hopefully Bengals bring back Alexander, and sign Jackson for at least a year to allow Adebo to transition.

Doubled down at WR, because we need the stock. Schwartz is an intriguing prospect. Despite his size, his speed and athleticism present him as an option as both a Jet Sweep/gadget player, but also the speed to be an over the top threat. Hazleton is a big bodied man with good hands and speed. Can never have too many of those guys.

I like Jaelan Phillips on the edge, as he projects well in Odd or Even fronts, and he should be able to make an immediate impact on the Bengals hybrid defense. Paddy Fisher is a classic big bodied inside LB that could benefit from some NFL coaching. He may find some spot duty on obvious rushing downs/goal line defense and 'teams.

I would gladly give you the trophy as this draft is amazing, albeit unrealistic.  The sim must have been sneaking in my liquor cabinet.  And I was blaming the dog...

The game show reference (and my old ass forgets the name) made me chuckle.  That is the game I play in the parking lot of the store (or anywhere) if you "Press your luck"  (Is that what it is called?) , you take an aisle close to the entrance trying to get a really close spot with perfect timing.  You get a "whammy" if there isn't a spot.  If you get three whammys, you have to park all the way back of the lot. My friends and I used to play this all the time.  It always struck me as so funny how one friend ALWAYS ended up getting three whammys and would be so pissed off as we walked and laughed.  Good times, being a stupid teen.

I got to the fourth round and after I kept saying "Holy Shit!", it was Pitts in the 5th that finally brought me back to earth.  I laughed, though.

1 Ja'Marr Chase WR LSU B+
2. Sam Cosmi OT Texas A+
3 Creed Humphrey C Oklahoma B+
4 Trey Smith OG Tennessee B+
5 Shaka Toney EDGE Penn State B+
6. Kenny Yeboah TE Mississippi B+
7. Robert Hainey OT Notre Dame B+
7. Jamin Davis LB Kentucky B+
7. Jacoby Stevens S LSU B+

That's the best I thought I could do with what PFF gave me. They rated the draft as a B+ overall.

I was tempted to take Naji Harris in 3, but went with the Center instead. We don't know when Hopkins is coming back.

Otherwise, I went strong on the OLine, and gave Burrow a coupe of good weapons. Chase merits no further comment. Yeboah is a poor man's Kyle Pitts.
