Samuel Cosmi- Longhorns.......Thoughts? - Sled21 - 03-03-2021 https://stripehype.com/2021/03/02/pff-projects-texas-ot-samuel-cosmi-best-bengals-fit/?fbclid=IwAR2x8KcNoxfRg0R5Ptw7ZE2OMw83IjbfZbE8lzQUjqTxQ_eORvyz7ZIruFE Quote:If Cincinnati opts to draft LSU wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase early in Round 1, then taking a tackle in Round 2 will certainly be the play. And the Bengals are bound to get a first-round caliber player at the 38th overall pick with how loaded this class is. RE: Samuel Cosmi- Longhorns.......Thoughts? - SHRacerX - 03-03-2021 I like him, but don't love him. He's athletic but not strong enough. He won't have a year to add strength...as a 2nd round pick here, he would be expected to start on the right side. I would rather take a freak like Faalele or even Spencer Brown. I didn't hear much about Brown at the Senior Bowl, though, and haven't seen that Faalele is, in fact, coming out in the draft. RE: Samuel Cosmi- Longhorns.......Thoughts? - Essex Johnson - 03-03-2021 If things don;t work out in signing a high end FA tackle and Sewell is gone.. take Slater to play guard in 1st round and look at Cosmi in 2nd round and you just replaced two on the line for next year. RE: Samuel Cosmi- Longhorns.......Thoughts? - psychdoctor - 03-03-2021 PFF loves Cosmi, and there are some who like him now better than Sewell. I also like Mayfield. I would not be married to the Sewell pick. Either not very athletic, but they can drive off the ball. Or they are very athletic, but don't have much strength. This was a big thing when Ogbuehi and Fisher were drafted. They were athletic but needed strength and refinement. Jalen Mayfield is both Strong and very Athletic but has the third downside limited experience... He did see alot of high end edge defenders though. As you see Cosmi just got better every year at Texas. I also really like Eichenberg even better if he fell for some odd reason. It is an extremely deep class at OT, just the year to Draft one thank God. Exactly who I was thinking of....The two that set the Bengals back for years. Faalele and Brown (Spencer) are insanely athletic for men of their size. I love Brown as a prospect, but wouldn't want to try and start him at RT this year. But I think with a year of coaching, he could be a pillar for a long time. Faalele worries me a little bit that with that massive size that his knees and/or back would have issues long term, but there are no men in the league with his size/strength that also have his agility. Lapham used to call it "the planet theory": There just aren't many men on the planet like him. I don't think Cosmi is Og weak though, he can run block and he is a great pass blocker. Og was just a terrible pick and Fisher had the heart problems so throw his pick out the window, not the FO's fault on that one IMO. Faalele sounds awesome if he is as athletic as you say he might fit our wide zone we are trying to run... Well, they're two completely different style of player. Cosmi is a technician, or a "finesse type", and Mayfield is a power guy. Don't read too much into either label, as both have their upside and downside Cosmi may be best suited at wide zone for run blocking, but his tape that I looked at was pretty underwhelming in run blocking. He's a pass pro specialist from the get go. Mayfield, is basically Bobby Hart. Good power in run blocking, but next to nothing when it comes to the nuances of pass protection. I haven't see any footage but I remember how people had video of the huge DT from Baltimore (Haloti Ngata, whose name always made me think of that line in "The Waterboy": "The MEDULLA OBLENGATA!") pancaking dudes in rugby. Tackle a guy that is 6'9" and 400 lbs that can move? Thanks, I will keep my shoulders where they are currently located on my body. We’re bringing sand to the beach.... As for Cosmi he’s a solid prospect but I’m always turned off by a offense or defensive lineman who needs to get stronger. Daniel Faalele did not declare for the draft he is going back to Minnesota next season. RE: Samuel Cosmi- Longhorns.......Thoughts? - ochocincos - 03-05-2021 I'm curious to see what OL are brought in (both FA and draft) with Pollack back as OL coach and also now running game coordinator. In his last stint, we saw them sign Bobby Hart, acquire Cordy Glenn, and draft Billy Price. We knew Ragnow was the C target in the draft though.
