Ja'Marr Chase Is Liking Cincinnati! - BFritz21 - 05-15-2021

Bengals Rookie Pleasantly Surprised By Cincinnati

Chase says he's actually liking Cincinnati so far! I'm not real sure what he's liking because there's not a whole lot going on, but it is a pretty chill city, and maybe (hopefully) that's what he likes!

Quote:Ja'Marr Chase has spent most of his life in Louisiana. He was born in Harvey, Louisiana. He went to Archbishop Rummel High School in Metairie, Louisiana. He attended Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Last month, though, Chase was drafted with the No. 5 overall pick by the Cincinnati Bengals. Cincinnati, in case you're unaware, is not in Louisiana. It's in Ohio.

Chase is in Cincinnati for the team's rookie minicamp this week, and it seems like he's been pleasantly surprised by what he's found in his new home. Via ESPN's Ben Baby, Chase said on Friday, "This is not what I thought Cincinnati would be, so I'm actually liking it so far."

I'm not sure what Chase expected Cincinnati to be, but I feel like it's nice (for both him and the Bengals) that he likes it more than he expected to. It's certainly better than if the opposite were the case, at least. The Bengals are surely hoping to keep him and his former LSU teammate, Joe Burrow, in Cincinnati for quite some time, so the new No. 1 receiver taking a liking to the city is a pretty good start.

Like it says, what did he expect it to be? Downtown does have some nice restaurants and the river front is starting to build-up some, so maybe that's helping.

In any case, I'm just pumped that Chase and Burrow are back together and seem to like it here in Cincinnati.

I like the little view they have so far. This is not what I thought Cincinnati was going to be, so I’m actually liking this so far. I’m pretty sure I will explore more this weekend and next weekend. actually thought Cincinnati was going to be a bunch of land … I didn’t realize we had so many buildings, tall buildings, hills, like trains. So much is down here you know, so I was actually surprised.”

He said he thought it would all be just a bunch of land.  He was surprised at the tall buildings.

What else is he supposed to say lol

RE: Ja'Marr Chase Is Liking Cincinnati! - bfine32 - 05-15-2021

I'm sure he likes Cincy much better than the city that the team that picked after us is from...

It sounds like Ja'Marr Chase hasn't spent a whole lotta time outside of the deep South til this point in his life. I don't now, nor have I ever lived in Cincinnati, so I'm not biased. It is a pretty city when you see it from certain angles though (Pittsburgh is the same way). These all sound like throw away remarks, but it seems Ja'Marr was taken aback by some of the views of his new home.

Cincinnati has quietly been adding attractions for quite some time now, what with the casino and ongoing improvements to OTR with restaurants, micro breweries, adding in what Covington and Newport have been doing across the way and there’s really more to this city than meets the eye. Hopefully things really open back up this year so people can experience Oktoberfest, which is always a good time!

I give Chase a break since he’s never been here. Pat McAfee otoh has no excuse for thinking Cincinnati is completely flat (when he’s on one of his rants about our lack of a indoor practice facility lol).

Careful what you wish for. Boise is about the same size as Cincinnati and we’ve been figured out. People moving in in droves, hiking up housing costs, changing the great vibe into something a bit more California. Enjoy Cincinnati while you can!

There is always plenty to do in a city. They are nice to visit but I wouldn't want to live in one.

Yeah, My sisters and brother in law had a weekend in Boise the weekend before last. I have been there more than about a dozen
times and it has been changing big time. Place is huge now and getting overrun with Californians. Thank God it isn't near as bad
here in Star Valley but we are feeling the same thing and there are no places to even rent in our Valley right now.

At least our Valley is spread out with big mountains. Still beautiful but don't want the Californians to ruin it like they did their old
state.

I almost added about what's going on in Northern Kentucky, especially in Covington and Newport right across the river, and that it wouldn't surprise me if Chase ends up moving over here like a lot of players do.

Peko, Burfict, Green, Hubert, Dunlap, Eifert, and I'm pretty sure Slim (RIP) even lived over here.

Casino definitely has allowed some things to pop-up in the city and do well.

Now, the casino just needs A DAMN SPORTSBOOK so we can watch the games over there!

I bought a house 1.5 years ago and I believe it’s valued on Zillow at 30% more than what I bought it for. The housing market is insane here.

My wife and I lived in an apartment in downtown Boise before then. We move in around 2014 and rent was $650... they were asking for $1200 when we moved out in 2019.

Californians can sell a small home for more than a million and come here to buy a house 3x the size for half of what they sold their house for. I had a neighbor move in and he’s redone the roof, new paint job, new windows, new garage door, new appliance, installed a basketball hoop, redid the landscape etc etc. on the biggest house on the street. It’s really concerning as a local resident... we all plan to move out your way, sorry man!

That's what happened in Colorado when we lived there.

Yep, lower taxes plus everything you said. Drop in the bucket for those Californians when buying a house in these mid-western
states. Just hope they learn their lesson and don't run our taxes up and spread that disease destroying Cali.

Couple decades ago, a high school buddy of mine made a trip to California and visited some cousins of his for the first time. When he came back he commented that they were surprised he actually wore shoes. I guess to them, we were a bunch of hicks and Hillbillies that walk around barefoot all the time.

That sure doesn't shine a good light on Californians lol

Cincinnati skyline is beautiful. Always take a picture of it when I’m in Newport.
