Why is Perrines touches so inconsistant? - impactplaya - 11-04-2021 Fans may or may not like Sameje Perrine. But everytime he touches the ball either Run or pass, he averages 6 yds a touch. The Jets 2nd RB Ty Johnson was a force Vs the Bengals with 71 yds recieving and a TD I don't understand the rationale of giving him 4 or 5 carries 1 week then the next week 0 carries. Even in the passing game he has made some clutch Plays then becomes a afterthought. He is a surehanded target. Very consistent hands RE: Why is Perrines touches so inconsistant? - Tony - 11-04-2021 Because Joe Mixon is getting paid... (and that's not a shot at Perine.) Thats obvious. But it doesnt quite explain Why his involvement in the offense is So inconsistent week to week. Mixon is better for sure. But it seems like once a game Mixon is Coming off the field after a tackle. He limps off and gets checked out And he is back after 4 snaps. Id like to see Samaje as a lead blocker For Mixon from time to time. He has the build for it.... RE: Why is Perrines touches so inconsistant? - George Cantstandya - 11-04-2021 Probably because Joe Mixon currently is ranked: 4th in rushing yards (572) 4th in rushing yards after contact (269) 1st in broken tackles (14) 9th in yards per game (71.5) That said there are some areas that could use improvement I guess. He is ranked 11th in rushing first downs (26) RE: Why is Perrines touches so inconsistant? - TheLeonardLeap - 11-04-2021 (11-04-2021, 02:02 PM)George Cantstandya Wrote: Probably because Joe Mixon currently is ranked: Biggest need of improvement is he has 9 yards on 9 carries on 3rd down, with only 3 1st downs (33.3%). With 1-3 yards to go on any down, he has only 12 1st downs on 25 attempts (48%). In comparison, Derrick Henry has 35 yards on 12 carries on 3rd down with 8 1st downs (66.6%). With 1-3 yards to go on any down, he has 26 1st downs on 34 attempts (76.5%). Obviously Henry is a freak of nature, but still... the point is Mixon has struggled in short yardage. Samaje Perine is even worse, though. He's 240lbs+ and yet somehow has gotten -2 yards on 5 attempts on 3rd down, with 0 first downs. With 1-3 yards to go on any down, he has 1 1st down on 4 attempts (averaging .5 yards per carry). RE: Why is Perrines touches so inconsistant? - TecmoBengals - 11-04-2021 I also assume there just aren't enough touches to go around for Perrine? We know Burrow slings it and Mixon is the clear RB1 on the depth chart. So what's the harm in giving a few carries to the backups? Especially if they're performing just as well? The goal is to win, right? That said, I think this is Mike Brown's thought process, and is probably why we rarely feed our backup RBs, even though most other teams in the league do, even with a highly paid lead back. |
