Uzomah and his disappearance - samhain - 12-06-2021

Since the Ravens game, Uzomah as been a relative non-factor. He's also had some real bonehead moments like the sailed TD vs NYJ and the drop that hit him directly in the hands yesterday. He's not looking like the dependable role player that he was early on.

Does the team have a need for an improved TE? It's hard to believe with a stacked wr group like this one, but perhaps another tall target might be of use to Burrow. We saw firsthand what an advantage pass catchers with height were to Herbert yesterday when they were winning 50-50 balls in decent coverage in the first half. We also see it seemingly weekly with Tee high-pointing balls in the end zone.

Time to make tate a TE, he is slow but sure hands.

RE: Uzomah and his disappearance - GreenCornBengal - 12-06-2021

Whozamah?

RE: Uzomah and his disappearance - ochocincos - 12-06-2021

The TE is not a featured part of the offense in the passing game.
Uzomah has had a couple great games, but realistically he's the 4th option in the offense.
I do think a new TE with more speed/agility might be able to get some more production, but the Bengals will never have a Top 10 TE if they don't prioritize the TE more in the passing game.

except he is on IR and he is not one of the better blockers which is paramount for a TE

Oh noes, I knew he was hurt, didnt' know he was IR.  Sad

Also, I’m pretty sure that was CJs legitimate first drop of the entire year, but yes let’s make a thread about replacing him lol.

That's Four Time Reigning and Defending Golden Binns Award Winner Auden Tate.  It's like A Tribe Called Quest.  You gotta say the whole thing.

Seriously, dude lost his role as the blocking WR in the heavy package to Morgan before his injury and he's going to make a mid season switch to TE?

He's got  solid hands, as long as he can bear hug them to the ground...  ThumbsUp

How can you target them, when they aren't that good and do shit like Uzomah has been doing the past few weeks...

Speaking of TEs.. Did anyone else see that bum sample not even turn around for scripted TE screen? Burrow had to throw it in the ground cuz Sample stood there in blocking stance with no one around him. That dude is downright horrible...

And it was either right out of a TO or commercial break, iirc, which is inexcusable. That play had huge yards ahead even for a plodder like Sample.

Yep. CJ has had a really good year but, unfortunately, he has to still stay in and block for this rather putrid OL. Look, outside of the Steelers game which, imo, was a complete anomaly, this OL is barely average.

Yesterday, minus 2 OL starters they needed him to block full-time. It's not easy to block and release late and become an effective TE. CJ has lots of athletic ability which he's demonstrated this year. He was the absolute LEAST problem with this team yesterday.Left at least 14-17 points out there and probably more if you factor in the net affect.

That ball was thrown early and at the ground.  It was a bad throw because Joe was about to get sacked

Let's be honest here. Even if he turns and catches it, he probably trips over his own feet anyway. Dudes the most un-athletic TE in football..

Tate's Golden Binns days are over.

I think he just falls off the roster after this season.

And the the final scene fades to black...  but wait!

Here comes a newfound underdog riding in from the distance!!

Out of 83 qualifying TEs he's middle of the pack though.

Ya but getting even 5 yards on a play that should have gotten them 25 yards is still better than an incomplete. As Lapham always says, gotta "stay on schedule".lol
