Most watched super bowl? - Rubekahn29 - 02-15-2022

I haven’t seen any official numbers yet, but it was estimated to have around 117 millions average viewers, which would make it the most watched super bowl of all time. Again, numbers aren’t official yet.

This should dispel the narrative that Bengals are bad for the NFL, along with the Thursday night game that broke records and the playoff games that had super high viewing numbers.

I saw a lot of salty Chiefs and Titans fans calling for this to be the least watched in a long time, so glad to see that’s not the case.

It was most watched SB since 2017.  Slightly under estimated viewers coming in around 112 million.  However, 11.9 million streamer views set new record I believe.

I don't know how they can get these numbers because some places are packed beyond capacity and people have big house parties.

I know they can get an estimate but places here were beyond crazy.

I personally love it because it hopefully means that the NFL will take note and not make our schedule impossible and also give us more primetime games!

We play Buffalo, KC, New England, Dallas, and obviously Baltimore and Pitt twice each.  I would be shocked if we don't have at least four primetime games just out of those matchups.

Hell yeah we should!

Makes me pissed that a bunch of normal people bought all the crippled section tickets before I could get any.

This won't be broken. We are talking average, not total viewership big difference.

How could you call yourself a Bengal fan and not know this???  Smirk

Wait what? Highest rated does not mean most watched. There were WAY less tvs in the early 80s. Ratings are % of tvs on the game, but that does not mean more people watching than now.. That’s like saying Cincy had a higher rating than LA for this super bowl (which they did), but LA still had more people watching in LA because they have substantially more people.

Exactly, forget the amount of TV's. The issue is the option of what to watch. With Cable/Satellite we have much more options today than in the early 80's. So while more people may watch a recent SB eg. Seattle vs New England you have a greater amount of people watching National Explorer TV or other Cable/Satellite channels now than in the early '80s. And if more TV options become available the odds of beating that 49ers vs Bengals 82 classic go down.
