Trade Drury as soon as possible. - fredtoast - 06-26-2022 Having a career year, but it is not going to last. We need to trade him while his value is artificially inflated. He turns 30 in August. Players don't turn their entire career around at this age. This hot streak is just a fluke. His career high in home runs is 16 in 461 at bats. This year he has 15 in just 230 at bats. His current slugging percentage (.522) is almost 100 points higher than his career (.428). RE: Trade Drury as soon as possible. - The D.O.Z. - 06-26-2022 Sure, WE know that’s smart business. But that’s not the Castellini Way. He has to bottom out so we can get a minimal return of guys who MAY reach the majors by 2026. RE: Trade Drury as soon as possible. - guyofthetiger - 06-26-2022 I have a feeling the Reds are listening to any offer at this point and we will see some players moved. Drury may be one of them. We should trade for bullpen help. RE: Trade Drury as soon as possible. - TecmoBengals - 06-27-2022 Yup about trading Drury. I mentioned this in the May game threads. Any older player that gets hot, with emphasis on guys having career years, needs to be traded. If there was any logic or sense to Reds, they would be glad they had a player like Drury who is easily the best Red on the team in 2022 so far. In a real world, it would be Votto and Moose long gone. It would be typical to continue to punish players for playing well. The worst thing you can do for The Reds is play well. That is a sure way to get traded. It is huge that Drury can play many positions, and Farmer can play all positions. They are low budget players to have on the team in 2023. In a world that makes sense, Drury and Farmer would be back in 2023 and it would be Votto and Moose getting shipped out. You don't get it. Drury is on a fluke hot streak. He is overvalued right now. That is the smart time to trade him. Drury will be 30 next month. He has almost 2000 career at bats with a career .730 OPS. That is who he is. He is not a guy that will produce a 35 HR and a .838 OPS for a full season. Better t trade him for prospects while he is overvalued than try to build around a 30+ year old player with a .730 career OPS. BTW kind of funny that you think in the "real world" teams would trade for a guy hitting .213 getting paid $25 million this year. Kevin the best of the clown squad isn't much. Like Fred says Drury is 30 years old and a career backup. He's not going to morph at 30 into a slugger hitting 40 HR's and 120 RBI's. It's a flash in the pan. Farmer is 31 and is just a good backup, that's all. Now if they were 23 or 24 that would be different. And nobody is going to trade for Moustakas ! He has like 17 HR's and 65 RBI's in the last 2 and 1/2 seasons with a BA of like .210. He's due 16,18, and 20 million $ over this season and next two years. You gonna pay that for a guy that struggles to stay on the field batting .210 with 10 HR's and 30 RBI's ? The Votto thing we've been through a half dozen times. Nobody is gonna pay 25 million for his services. Just want to say that I agree fully with you and Fred; trading him to a playoff team that needs help down the stretch is the 100% move to do. But he isn't a career backup; he started 2 or 3 years at 3B for the Dbacks and had starter PT with us for a year or two, despite being a Utility guy. Right If this team was a couple players away from contending it would be different. But they're not. They need all the pitching help they can get and the guys to build around are India, Stephenson, Greene, Ashcraft, Lodolo Maybe ? Most of the rest are on the trading block. This team is several years from contending. RE: Trade Drury as soon as possible. - ATOTR - 06-29-2022 (06-28-2022, 10:26 AM)kevin Wrote: In a real world, it would be Votto and Moose long gone.
