Rank our CBs - bfine32 - 07-10-2022 For the next group we move back to the Defense and rank our CBs. The projected top 3 are: Awuzie, Apple, and Hilton, So were we got AHA? For the record we had them mid-pack last year and had a big debate on what equals a #1CB. http://thebengalsboard.com/Thread-Rank-our-CBs As always the competition: ARZ- BYRON MURPHY/ MARCO WILSON/ BREON BORDERS ATL- AJ TERRELL/ CASEY HAYWARD/ DEE ALFORD BAL- MARCUS PETERS/ MARLON HUMPHRIES/ KEVON SEYMOR BUF- TRADAVIOUS WHITE/ KAIIR ELAM/ SIRAN NEAL CAR- DONTAE JOHNSON/ JAYCEE HORN/ CJ HENDERSON CHI- JAYLON JOHNSON/ DUKE SHELLEY/ KYLER GORDON CLV- DENZEL WARD/ GREG NEWSOME/ GREEDY WILLIAMS DAL- TREVON DIGGS/ ANTHONY BROWN/ KELVIN JOSEPH DEN- PATRICK SURTAIN/ RONALD DARBY/ KWAN WILLIAMS DET- AMANI ORUWAIYZ; JEFF OKUDAH/ MIKE HUGHS GBP-ERIC STOKES/ JAIRE ALEXANDER/ RASUL DOUGLAS HOU- DEREK STINGLEY/ STEVEN NELSON/ DESMOND KING IND- KENNY MOORE/ STEPHON GILMORE/ WILL REDMOND JAX- DARIUS WILLIAMS/ SHAQUILL GRIFFIN/ TAYSHAUN CAMPBELL KCC- TRENT MCDUFFIE/ JARIUS SNEAD/ DEON BUSH LVR- ROCK YA-SIN/ TRAYVON MULLEN/ ANTHONY AVERET LAC- ASSANTE SAMUEL/ JC JACKSON/ BRYCE CALLAHAN LAR- JALEN RAMSEY/ TROY HILL/ DAVID LONG MIA- XAVIEN HOWARD/ BYRON JONES/ NOAH IGBINOGHENE MIN- PATRICK PETERSON/ CAMERON DANTZLER/ ANDREW BOOTH NEP- MALCOLM BUTLER/ JALEN MILLS/ JONATHAN JONES NOS- PALSON ADEBO/ MARSHAWN LATTIMORE/ PJ WILLIAMS NYG- CORDALE FLOTT/ ADOREE JACKSON/ DARNAY HOLMES NYJ- SAUCE GARDNER/ DJ REED/ BRYCE HALL PHI- DARIUS SLAY/ JAMES BRADBERRY/ AVONTAE MADDOX PIT- AHKELLO WITERSPOON/ CAMERON SUTTON/ LEVI WALLCE SEA- TRE BROWN/ SYDNEY JONES/ ARTIE BURNS SFF- CHARVARIUS WARD/ EMANNUEL MOSELY/ JASON VERETT TBB- JAMAL DEAN/ CARLTON DAVIS/ ROSS COCKEREL TEN- CALEB FARLEU/ KRISTIAN FULTON/ ROGER MCCRERY WAS- KENDALL FULLER/ WILLIAM JACKSON/ BEN ST-JUSTE Top FAs: https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/free-agents/all/cornerback/available/ RE: Rank our CBs - rfaulk34 - 07-10-2022 (07-10-2022, 12:40 PM)bfine32 Wrote: For the next group we move back to the Defense and rank our CBs. RE: Rank our CBs - fredtoast - 07-10-2022 Again it is really hard for me to rank the teams because I recognize less than half of these players listed. I know that last year we struggled with pass defense (26th yards, 18th passer rating) despite getting decent pressure on the QB. But I don't know exactly how to parse the blame. Hilton and Awuzie seemed to play well. Apple struggled early in the year, but played better later in the season. And, of course, safeties and LBs also contribute to pass coverage. For example, in that Jets nightmare that was almost all short stuff underneath the CBs. I actually feel pretty good about our top 3 CBs. I like Taylor-Britt also, but he may not play a lot as a rookie if the top 3 stay healthy. He will still play enough to have an impact. I'd guess we play 4 CBs at least 10-15 snaps a game. Just guessing I would rank them 10-15 in the league. I will take the positive approach and vote on the top end of that at 7-12 RE: Rank our CBs - bengalfan74 - 07-10-2022 I think our defense will improve from last season, especially the first half of the season. Most of the D is still intact another year in the system. I could see them coming in top 12. RE: Rank our CBs - Nicomo Cosca - 07-10-2022 7-12. Awuzie is very underrated around the league (except by PFF), and Hilton is one of the best slot guys there is. If we get good Apple instead of rotten Apple it’s a very good unit. I’m also not ruling out CTB taking that #2 spot in camp. RE: Rank our CBs - MasonDT70 - 07-10-2022 I think our cbs are right in the middle in the 12-16 range. Awuzie is good, Hilton is very solid, apple had a solid late season last year but I want to see more consistency from him, and ctb is a complete unknown. So going 13-19. RE: Rank our CBs - CJD - 07-10-2022 Awuzie and Hilton are top 10 Outside CB and Slot CB, respectively, at least if we believe PFF's grades (Awuzie was the top rated CB in the entire AFC last year). Apple, however, is inconsistent and can be gotten at the worst times (but can also make some of the best plays at the right time, like the Hill tackle against KC). I don't know a lot of other team's #2 and #3 CBs because there are too many to keep track of, but I'd find it hard to believe that more than 6 teams have a top 10 RCB and SCB so I'll say we're top 6. Worst case, we're 7-12. Looking at the listings, I'd say ATL, BAL, BUF, GBP, LAC and CLV are up there with us. LAR and MIA are up there too, but are more 1 elite CB rather than a pair or trio of good CBs. RE: Rank our CBs - jason - 07-10-2022 We're sneaky good at CB. 6 on the dot. RE: Rank our CBs - WeezyBengal - 07-11-2022 Guess I am not as high on these guys as you all... I think this unit is about as average as you can get with zero proven depth. RE: Rank our CBs - Nate (formerly eliminate08) - 07-12-2022 With the additions of Daxton Hill and CTB on top of Awuzie, Hilton and Apple I think we can be top 5. But this is based on potential. Awuzie was great last season, only got burnt by AJ Brown pretty much. Hilton is like the best Slot Corner in the NFL, Apple is talented just needs to get more consistent. I vote around 6th like Rfaulk said. |
