Defensive Schemes against Us - THE PISTONS - 09-18-2022 Basically teams are playing a lot of Cover 2 to take big plays away. Forcing us to drive which is mainly offensive scheme and we struggle at it. Then they often overload 1 side of the line and blitz us. We struggle to run and protect Burrow. And a good amount of time, receivers aren't open. It's up to coaches to scheme to fix this. <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script> RE: Defensive Schemes against Us - thompson19osu - 09-18-2022 So much truth there. Can’t argue when the boys are averaging like 3ypc. RE: Defensive Schemes against Us - Nicomo Cosca - 09-18-2022 We lived off the big explosive plays last season (mostly to Chase). Without those this offense is really struggling. It’s up to Taylor and Callahan to come up with a better game plan. The OL is certainly making things more difficult (especially today), but there’s just no excuse for the offense to be this bad. RE: Defensive Schemes against Us - J24 - 09-18-2022 They need to be more aggressive on first and second downs. How many times did we run it on those downs vs Pass. At one point the average third down was 7.9. No wonder why we are struggling on that down so much. This offense should be breaking records (other than sack record) this season. Not averaging under 20 points per game. RE: Defensive Schemes against Us - Clark W Griswold - 09-18-2022 Watch Chases postgame interview. He agrees with you guys and you can see he’s frustrated with the way they are playing. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=tpCbV5LkQws RE: Defensive Schemes against Us - THE PISTONS - 09-18-2022 This is somewhat scary and twkling: <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script> RE: Defensive Schemes against Us - THE PISTONS - 09-18-2022 <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script> RE: Defensive Schemes against Us - bengalfan74 - 09-18-2022 (09-18-2022, 10:11 PM)THE PISTONS Wrote: Basically teams are playing a lot of Cover 2 to take big plays away. I think one of our biggest problems with our offensive scheme is that we don't have an offensive scheme. The only thing ZT knows to do is flip pages in the play book, say lets run this, and hope the team bails out his lack of in game play calling ability. RE: Defensive Schemes against Us - Destro - 09-18-2022 Like to see more to the TE. Boyd, Higgins and Chase can pull the defenses away. But any coach worth a damn can counter it being taken away. Especially when you consider how good Burrow was in the intermediate passing game his rookie year without even having Chase. RE: Defensive Schemes against Us - impactplaya - 09-18-2022 Beating Cover 2 , you can use smash concepts Post patterns , deep drag routes Which Callahan and ZT have neglected to draw up RE: Defensive Schemes against Us - Nepa - 09-18-2022 (09-18-2022, 10:24 PM)THE PISTONS Wrote: This is somewhat scary and twkling: This comment of Burrow's that "the defenses we are getting earlier are always different than one on film," says a lot. It seems to be implying that our sluggish first halves are because other teams adjust to the Bengals before the game, or at least come up with a new game plan during the week before they play, whereas the Bengals assume something during the week and then adjust at half-time. These sluggish first halves are so aggravating. We know they will come back in the second half, but really don't understand why the game plan going into the games are so poor. Yes. It shows we have poor coaching. RE: Defensive Schemes against Us - Joelist - 09-18-2022 Aside from the playbook seeming not to have any plays designed to beat Cover 2 (which exist in abundance, are time tested and successful) it would also help it we stopped telegraphing the play by the formation. When Burrow lined up under center we passed it exactly one time - every other time was a run. The selection out of shotgun was also unbalanced but in favor of the pass. It makes it a LOT easier on a defense when they know before the snap if it is a run or pass.
