Yannick Ngakoue... - Nate (formerly eliminate08) - 03-09-2023

This guy would really help the pass rush along with Ossai coming along. Of course need to get the OL fixed but if we could
also add a guy like this who had 19.5 sacks the last couple years it could really help our Defense. He isn't a good run stopper
so he shouldn't be crazy expensive. Getting Eluemunor for RT, Taylor Lewan for cheap on a 1 year prove it deal for LT while
adding Ngakoue could be in play yah never know.

Yep, give us Ngakoue and a dependable Offensive Tackle, and this team will stay right in the thick of it.

I know he's 30, but why not Leonard Floyd once released from the Rams? He's averaging 10 sacks the last 3 seasons with the Rams. Just another option to help the pass rush.

Exactly, hope this is the plan. Ngakoue and Eluemunor and I will feel really good going into the Draft.

Not against Floyd either, still think he has at least a couple years of good to great play in him. I just like Ngakoue because he is
younger and he has been mentioned to us a few times. Fits what we need in a pass rushing specialist to go with Ossai.

I dunno Nate, I don't see them shelling out the $$ for Ngakoue. If they get a rotational pass rusher, I think it will be someone who will cost $5 mill or less, or a draft pick that could eventually take over once some of these starting DL leave.
I know you mentioned Ngakoue isn't good against the run, but he did just sign a 2 year, $26 mill deal back in 2021.
Like you said, 19.5 sacks the past two years, and he's only about to turn 28.
I think someone will end up paying $10+ mill APY for him, and it won't be the Bengals.

I'd like them to focus on our own guys first namely:

1) Bell-SS
2) Hurst-TE
3) Perine-RB
4) Apple-CB
5) Flowers-CB

Get comp Picks for:

1) Bates and Pratt

Outside FA's:

1) Melvin Ingram (Dolphins)-Edge- I think he could be used as an asset in passing situations as an additional rusher, and wont command a large salary due to age.

2) Josh Wells(Bucs)- he's a better backup T than Adeniji, and could fit our salary concerns while we draft a replacement RT, if Collins is still a ?

3) Daniel Brunskill (49ers)- comes in and competes for the LG spot, with the loser becoming first man off the bench thus upgrading from D'ante Smith

I think these depth pieces will be the key to building a solid roster and not having holes in key areas in case of injury, and they shouldnt command top salary either, but are upgrades.

I was hearing somewhere that Ngakoue's numbers were fairly deceiving in terms of sacks. His pass rush win rate has been in decline for years, and he's not getting any younger.

I wouldn't hate him as a rotational rusher on a bargain contract, but the sack numbers might keep that from being likely. I wouldn't pay him a ton to come to Cincinnati.

I get all that, except he is just a pass rush specialist. He doesn't really do anything great besides rush the passer. I don't think he would
be crazy expensive. Ngakoue is the pass rusher that we have been mentioned as a landing spot for. I don't see him getting 10+ million.

Around 7.5 mil a year at most. If someone wants to pay more than that for a specialist be my guest.

I understand that sentiment, but pass rushing is valued at a premium in the league.
Spotrac seems to think the same, as they have a calculated market value at $14.8 mill APY for Ngakoue.
PFF has just slightly lower value at $12.5 mill APY.

I too want us to keep most of our own besides Bates...

Nice thoughts on Ingram, Wells and Brunskill. Still want Eluemunor or Jawaan Taylor at RT, we need a starter there, not a backup.

Well if that is being taken into account with Ngakoue he shouldn't be quite as spendy.

That is too much, would be a no for me if Ngakoue was asking THAT much. Like I said, he has been mentioned going to us, doubt
we pay a backup pass rush specialist who cannot stop the run or set the edge 10+ mil, let alone 12.5 plus.
