Now do Jonah.

I need to log back in to PFF, but I'll grab them

RE: For those interested - Orlando Brown PFF grades - Joelist - 03-16-2023

And per request here's Jonah:

2020 - Run Block 53.4 Pass Block 75.8

2021 - Run Block 79.8 Pass Block 68.8

2022 - Run Block 49.9 Pass Block 63.9

So Jonah is getting worse?

I don't think he's better than Brown, but Jonah did have a dislocated kneecap for 3/4 of the season this year...

RE: For those interested - Orlando Brown PFF grades - Joelist - 03-16-2023

I like Jonah but even I had to admit by the end of this last season he was not starter quality in his play. I think the two dislocated kneecaps played a role in that they robbed him of any real ability to anchor. Either way this is a significant upgrade.

RE: For those interested - Orlando Brown PFF grades - Isaac Curtis: The Real #85 - 03-16-2023

Hopefully, a healthy Jonah resembles his 2021 self.

I love that he battled through the dislocated kneecap, but it had to have a significant negativeimpact on his play. If he bounces back, be it at RT or LG, we could really be in business. Big IF, but still. It is a night for rainbows & sunshine!

What about Brown's replacement Juwan Taylor?

Brown settled in as the season went on and the back half of the season saw a large improvement in his pass blocking grade.

Quote:After threatening to hold out for the 2022 season following a franchise-tag saga that didn’t culminate in a long-term deal, Brown turned a slow start into a strong second half protecting quarterback Patrick Mahomes. From Week 10 to the end of the regular season, Brown’s 88.7 pass-blocking grade ranked third best among left tackles.

He may not become one of the game’s true top tackles given his much-maligned athletic limitations, but he’s a very reliable blindside protector who has succeeded in two diametrically opposed offensive schemes.

I’m pretty pumped about the line with the players we have now. Solid players to pick up the slack for the injured vets from last year. We could certainly add another name or two as well.

Jonah's injuries had to impact him. I look at 2021 rankings and wonder if Jonah could move to RT or RG and be as good or better than he was in 2021.

I'm not up right now to transcribing career for Taylor, but last season he was 76.4 Pass Block and 39.7 Run Block.

Run blocking is putrid. I would still think they would rather sign Brown for the money we gave him vs what they gave Taylor.

Maybe KC thinks their OL coach can fix Taylor's problems with run blocking?

Thanks. This is a big big man (6'8", 345, 35") who knows what it takes. Doesn't hurt that he blocked for Mixon at Oklahoma.

Big big move.

Still need more. Be it new people or vast improvement by those starting game one. If he 100% locks down his position, it still means the other side of the line needs to hold up.
