I'm all for it however, like Ocho and I were talking in another thread. At a very reduced price. Like 1/4 or less of the 20 million he's due to get if extended.

We need pitching way too bad to pay a bench player that kind of money. And at 41 and with a .200 batting average he can't be a regular starter.

Of course he wants to come back! Easy money. Bat around .200 , some guaranteed time off on the IL, joke around with the play by play guys while riding the pine, make a cool 8 million. I'd wanna come back to!

I'm hoping Toronto signs him to be their DH, let him coming home to Canada be the major, feel-good Joey Votto story this off-season. I mean no disrespect to JV, I appreciate his career here, but it's beyond time to move on, for both sides.

OH OO NO NO to 8 million, I'm talking like 3 million or even less.

Well, my Votto jersey will live on for another year. I doubt the Reds make an offer. They have a lot of young guys on the team.

I'll be pretty surprised if they even kick around the idea of bringing him back? If they do I'd also venture a guess it will be for a very much reduced price.

They pay him either way. Either his option is picked up at $20 million (they won't. If they did, they'd have a full-on fan mutany worse than when Phil popped off at the mouth) or they pay him $7 million (buyout) to ride off into the sunset. If they pay him the 7 million, then turn around and sign him for say 5 million....we just paid 12 million for .200 part-time baseball. He doesn't bat well anymore. He hasn't fielded well in quite some time. He isn't good on the base paths. He doesn't bring ANYTHING to this current team that we don't already currently have (unless you count "walk specialist" as a boon).

If they bring him back..please let it be as "first base COACH" only!
