Reds Had A Good Season - kevin - 11-02-2023

Forget this Reds outclassed by play-off team nonsense. Forget the movie about Billy Bean as GM of Oakland A's saying if you don't win World Series it's a bad season. Forget all that. Here is the truth in modern day economics and fan base of MLB. Small City franchise of Cincinnati bounced back after no fans 2020 covid huge money loss and few fans next 2 years money loss and bad records. The Reds had to dump payroll due to no fans covid, but as other big city teams dumped minor league players in 2020 covid, teams such as Reds and Rays grabbed up these minor league futures in 2020. These minor league players came on strong for Reds in 2023 and there are more coming up in the future.

Reds had a winning record and were around 1st Place on Memorial Day and on 4th of July. Reds were very HOT in May and June. They filled Great American Ball Park and made money in 2023. Reds had a good Summer. Reds Fans had a good summer. Here is where Billy Bean is wrong. The heck with Halloween Baseball. Reds filled their ball park in Spring and Summer and made money and had a winning record. Reds also have key pitchers back in 2024, Diaz as Closer.

So Reds had a good season and the Future is bright. I don't even care about the teams still playing in November, it's almost Ohio State / Michigan game time for crying out loud. Reds packed the stadium and won over Summer Holidays, forget Halloween. That is the economics of modern day MLB, and the Billy Beans of the world don't get it. In a few months Reds will have Opening Day Parade and set to have another good Spring and Summer, which is Baseball Season.

Reds had a much better season than 2022. Still the pitching was suspect with injuries and callups. If the Reds right the ship with pitching, we can go far in 2024.

They have the pieces. If this front office sits on their thumbs again this off-season and doesn't acquire a few veteran pieces to supplement the youth and have actual depth in spots this team needs depth in, they should be ran out of town. The fans did their part this past season, they came to watch an exciting up and coming team. Now it's time for ownership to reciprocate.

Yep

We have to have at least 1 upper tier, proven, 12+ game winner starting pitcher. A guy that can put in some mega (by today's standards) innings. A guy that can stop losing streaks. So on

And really we probably need 2, You can't seriously go into next season thinking deep into playoffs/Worls Series standing pat on the current staff.

They're not really going all in, by any stretch, just going out and picking up a couple long in the tooth, past their prime vets.
