They were jealous of our Andrew Cocker pickup.

RE: Chief trade for DeAndre Hopkins - sandwedge - 10-23-2024

Average salary $13,000,000. However over a 3rd was already paid, and titans likely eating some of it.

. Spotrac also lists the Chiefs as being $4.4 million over the cap, which suggests an agreement would have to be made for the Titans to eat some of Hopkins' contract in order for Kansas City to remain cap compliant.

Titans are paying half his salary

RE: Chief trade for DeAndre Hopkins - George Cantstandya - 10-23-2024

Titans dealing him for a 5th (conditional 4th) to the Chiefs after paying half his salary basically saying, "F it.  If we are going down we are going to try to take the rest of the AFC with us aside from the Chiefs."   Tongue

I get it he is older with some injury concerns but he had a pretty good season last year 1k+ yards and 7 TDs.  I would have rather they traded him to the 49rs after Aiyuk got injured.

RE: Chief trade for DeAndre Hopkins - Whacked - 10-23-2024

Geezus. Not good for the rest of the AFC

Meh, he can soon join the rest of the KC WRs, on the injured reserve...

The weird thing about the Chiefs is Mahomes is having a fairly bad season so far.  16th in passing yards and 6 touchdown passes to 8 interceptions. Yet they keep winning. I guess the defense is taking up the slack.  So it wouldn't surprise me with the rest of the AFC's luck if somehow Hopkins suddenly has an amazing injury free second half or so of the season.

A proactive FO must be nice.

Exactly!

Let's pump the brakes and see if he has anything left in the tank before we start condemning the FO. Callahan was willing to trade him. If I remember correctly Callahan comes from an offensive coaching tree. In most cases an offensive minded coach wouldn't be willing to part with a premium offensive talent.

Callahan has Bengals connections, obviously. He probably was a straight shooter with our FO. Maybe not so much with KC's. Let's wait and see how it shakes it.

I don't think anyone was suggesting the Bengals should have tried to work out a trade for Hopkins.

Not in this thread. I was immediately quoted in another thread as soon as the trade was accepted. Said poster was apparently distraught because he was acquired for a 5th.

I thought that I had seen someone suggesting the Bengals go after Hopkins, in one of the other threads, just couldn't put my finger on which one. Either way, cheap deal for the Chiefs. Personally, I think that Hopkins is pretty much washed, but you never know what Andy Reid can get out of an older talent like Hopkins.

Tbh, I actually hadn't considered the AR angle. That's definitely a noteworthy point. He's looked nothing like the dominant WR that he used to be, but if there's a coach that can squeeze some juice out of him it would probably be Andy.

I also agree that a 5th for him is a very reasonable roll of the dice. Ts, I'm not sure how some seem to think he's an immediate plug and play in our offense. I just don't see it, but in KC the WR situation is very different.

could potentially be a solid  WR over the middle... at this age his hands should still be good  even if his speed has fallen

RE: Chief trade for DeAndre Hopkins - Goalpost - 10-25-2024

Similar profile, stats and age to AJ Green who faded.

We will never know buddy!

Meanwhile The Browns are in a family pickleball tournament while serious FO are trying to improve their teams even further.

No doubt about it, Ma and Pa run the Bengals.
