The Tee Conundrum - THE PISTONS - 11-18-2024

With how bad the entire roster is outside Burrow/Chase/Trey...it makes sense to keep Tee as we're definitely a better offense when he plays.

The scheme appears to be weak here. Tee beat a double team himself for a long TD last night.

That said, he misses a chunk of games each year.

Thoughts...

RE: The Tee Conundrum - WeezyBengal - 11-18-2024

Can't pay two WRs over 55 million in cap space when there are so many other holes on the team. Especially one that plays only 50% of the time.

I honestly think they will be fine without him. They will need to go out and get a solid WR in free agency or draft one within the first two rounds, though.

He aint coming back. It's over.

RE: The Tee Conundrum - Nate (formerly eliminate08) - 11-18-2024

Man, I keep going back and forth on Tee. He doesn't play for weeks and I am not for bringing him back, he plays and plays like a
stud and I am for bringing him back lol

See...I'd normally agree with that.

But, they'll likely just add more Geno Stone's with his money. We may need to build a team that can score 35 a game as I doubt they can fix the defense in 1 year.

RE: The Tee Conundrum - BengalsLUFC - 11-18-2024

You just can’t pay him what he wants for how little he’s on the field.

Say tight arse actually paid him what he was asking and instead of pulling his hamstring he actually tore it.

That would scare the silly old bastard out of ever giving two year guarantees again.

I’m gonna miss Tee he’s been nothing but a professional for the most part but for the sake of the future of the team and what we could do with that money it’s time to move on unless he takes a drastically reduced deal.

Question is do we tag and trade him to try get something back.

They’ve got so many holes to fill. So many misses recently in FA and the draft. The draft is not all misses but Volson…. Dax & Murphy. I don’t see how there’s a path to keep him.

Just cut Geno Stone now and I never say something like this. I don't know why he is even playing. When he is in, bad things happen, when
Jordan Battle is in good things happen on Defense. Just maddening.

The math just doesn't math. You have to choose either Chase or Higgins. And it's a no brainer.

This.  In fact, NO team is going to pay him what he wants.
His injury history has destroyed his bargaining power.

On the bright side, Higgins will be free from the curse of MB.  He will get to watch his friends Burrow and Chase languish in futility on the MB run Bengals.

True, 36 mil a year for Chase now looks like....

Smart move not giving him the guarantees FO lol

RE: The Tee Conundrum - Frank Booth - 11-18-2024

even with tee, this team loses. Time to fix everything else that isnt offesnive weapons.

Don't get me started. LOL

Was the FO hoping he was going to suck or something? Everyone and their dog knew the price was only gonna go up.

Call me insane, but I think the defense is fixable.

You can get out from Hubbard, Stone, and Rankins' contracts. That'll save you around 30 million. Take the 30 million and go get a good vet corner and a good vet safety. Pay up for them. I'm talking tier 1 fringe tier 2 guys, not Geno Stone type players.

Go draft an interior DL guy in round one. Get one that can start and be effective day 1. Trade up if you need to.

You do that and I think you can turn this defense around. Dax, Turner, Jenkins all flashed enough for me this year to believe.

You may be right but I'm willing to bet someone overpays for Tee and takes that chance. I could see the Titans desperate enough to sign him if Calliahan is still there next year. They sign Tee and draft a quarterback in the 1st. Tee is a number one receiver WHEN he is on the field. Someone will take the bait.

That's the thing. How many years have they been trying to fix the line for?

Now the entire team needs fixed.

I think they set numbers and when they can pay what...and won't budge from those...no matter what.

Of course it's fixable IF you start signing and drafting good players. The problem is this team has failed recently at signing and drafting good players.

2 of the 3 guys you want to cut are players from this past years free agency class. Who did Stone replace? Nick Scott from the previous free agent class. See a trend?

I know and im not disagreeing. I am just saying the path is there if they actually hit on players they bring in.

Thoughts...

We're averaging 28.3 PPG with Tee, 25.4 without.

Also keep in mind that a number of the games Tee played were against weaker defenses.

Just because he has had some good individual outings doesn't mean the offense as a whole has been dramatically better.

We could let Tee walk and get a real K and make up a decent amount of that ppg differential at a fraction of the price.
