God Help Us If The FO Keeps Lou Anarumo Next Year - GodFather - 12-02-2024 If the Bengals front office is stubborn like they always are and decide to keep Lou around for another year, I will expect another year of what we are suffering through. How can you justify this mentality from him? https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nfl/bengals-defensive-coordinator-lou-anarumo-on-why-geno-stone-wont-be-joining-vonn-bell-on-the-sideline/ar-AA1v9hTS?ocid=BingNewsSerp “Geno's our guy,” Anarumo said. “We'll move forward there.” Despite Stone’s inability to finish, and sometimes even initiate, tackles, Anarumo said he’s firmly behind the safety and his effort. “Geno's all in, 100 percent,” Anarumo said. Per Pro Football Focus, Geno Stone ranks 55th among 55 qualifying safeties in run defense. In terms of PFF coverage grades, Stone ranks 62nd among 66 safeties. I read this and thought this statement pretty much sums up our defense this year. I can see Mike Brown holding onto this coaching staff another year with an excuse of past success (that is success in Mike Brown's mind). RE: God Help Us If The FO Keeps Lou Anarumo Next Year - Nicomo Cosca - 12-02-2024 He’s gotta go. Just has to. The FO did him no favors this past offseason, but he’s also shown no ability to consistently field a good defense. He lived off some timely turnovers during a couple playoff runs, but the expiration date on getting credit for that has officially past. Bro, Lou coached the AFC Champion Bengals defense a few seasons ago. RE: God Help Us If The FO Keeps Lou Anarumo Next Year - Destro - 12-02-2024 Nothing happened today besides Burrow sound bites. No firing, no demotion, no benching, no signings, no ownership statements of things to come. Just get worse and more embarrassing. Bengals are washed. We can bring Lou in as a special consultant if we ever make the playoffs again and face the Chiefs. I’m sure he’ll be available. RE: God Help Us If The FO Keeps Lou Anarumo Next Year - Frank Booth - 12-02-2024 unfortunate situation. He had the 17th best scoring defense in 21, and then had the 6th best scoring defense in 22. I've seen what this guy can do when he gets to the playoffs. I just dont think he was able to adjust with this new garbage personnel. Maybe Lou has a certain system. Requiring an elite ball hawk safety and a run stuffer up front. Because he was able to make it work with Eli Apple at corner, and a middling pass rush overall (talking 21 and 22) im gonna be honest, Idk if whoever they replace him with can have that same postseason magic as Lou. Especially against KC I can see this being one of the most controversial topics in bengals history down the line if they replace him with a guy who cant get it done in the playoffs RE: God Help Us If The FO Keeps Lou Anarumo Next Year - NATI BENGALS - 12-02-2024 I might have to start looking in to refunds for the payments I’ve made on 2025 season tix RE: God Help Us If The FO Keeps Lou Anarumo Next Year - TKUHL - 12-02-2024 I would be absolutely shocked nobody has been held accountable for this historically bad defense, If this was any other franchise, even Dallas. So everything is just fine I assume. SMH COMMON the fans deserve better than this. Joe, Chase and others on the offense deserves better than this. My old man never got to see us hoist the Lombardi, not much hope my fate will be any different. It’s really sad. Do better Mike, Katie etc. RE: God Help Us If The FO Keeps Lou Anarumo Next Year - Luvnit2 - 12-02-2024 The FO let Reader leave and signed Rankins + draft picks. The draft picks will develop in 2 to 3 years, problem is our offense is Super Bowl ready. We refused to bring in a vet corner and relied on young CB's, both got hurt (Turner and Hill) and Cam Britt forgot how to cover anyone. We brought in Geno Stone, and he is horrible. We refused to bring in a stud pass rusher (again) for Hubbard. Hibbard is an average DL, which is fine for downs 1 & 2, but not on 3rd or 4th and long. Mac lost us a couple of games as well. Lot of work to be done. I suggest we start with using the 20+ million we paid Tee in 2024 on the defensive side of the ball and draft a WR after we tag and trade him for a couple of draft picks. I love Tee, but I also would love a great pass rusher to help Trey. Murphy and Ossai need 2 more years? Dax needs more years? CTB has regressed. The front office has been dreadful at drafting and free agency. Thats why the defense is where its at. We knew jenkins needed development. We knew Turner needed another year(even though he was the best corner on the team). its Murphy, Ossai, and CTB that have failed to develop. Doesnt help that Battle cant see the field Dax, through no fault of his own, is looking like a BUST and Germaine got his payday, so maybe he doesnt give a crap anymore. Pratt has been awful since getting his money RE: God Help Us If The FO Keeps Lou Anarumo Next Year - Whatever - 12-02-2024 (12-02-2024, 11:19 PM)Nicomo Cosca Wrote: This Trenton Irwin erasure is unseemly. To be fair, he kinda erased himself earlier in the year. RE: God Help Us If The FO Keeps Lou Anarumo Next Year - Luvnit2 - 12-03-2024 (12-02-2024, 11:46 PM)Frank Booth Wrote: more optimistic fans. I clearly said we needed to bring in a vet corner and a great pass rusher. Carry on looking to bash fellow fans and the team. Especially with having to pay Chase bottom line is their drafting has been god awful, and thats really why theyre here. Keeping Bates wouldve helped a bunch, but there has been too many whiffs from Duke Tobin RE: God Help Us If The FO Keeps Lou Anarumo Next Year - basballguy - 12-03-2024 (Yesterday, 12:14 AM)Frank Booth Wrote: didnt really bash you, but ok. It’s a conundrum. Are we drafting bad or are we bad at developing players? I personally refuse to believe we are this piss poor at drafting. I honestly think it’s a development problem. I believe. Go back and look at those drafts from 2015 onward. developmental issue? idk. Maybe thats a smaller part of it, but this tiny scouting department and lack of adapting with the times 100% plays a bigger problem That jackson carmen pick maybe cost them a super bowl RE: God Help Us If The FO Keeps Lou Anarumo Next Year - Destro - 12-03-2024 (12-02-2024, 11:19 PM)Nicomo Cosca Wrote: This Trenton Irwin erasure is unseemly. RE: God Help Us If The FO Keeps Lou Anarumo Next Year - GodFather - 12-03-2024 This is the 6th year with Lou Anarumo. They have had a below average defense in 5 of those 6 years. 2019: 29th overall / 25th scoring / 26th sacks / 28th turnovers / 25th 3rd down 2020: 26th overall / 22nd scoring / 32nd sacks / 27th turnovers / 20th 3rd down 2021: 18th overall / 17th scoring / 12th sacks / 17th turnovers / 22nd 3rd down 2022: 16th overall / 6th scoring / 29th sacks / 11th turnovers / 20th 3rd down 2023: 31st overall / 21st scoring / 18th sacks / 12th turnovers / 22nd 3rd down This year has been a disaster from week 1. There is no reason he should be back next year. |
