Greater Cincinnati School Closings - BFritz21 - 01-05-2025 Northern Kentucky and Greater Cincinnati is all snow and ice and there’s obviously a bunch if school closings on the TV. When it gets to his bad, why don’t they have a list of schools that are actually open? Seems like it would save a lot of time. RE: Greater Cincinnati School Closings - TecmoBengals - 01-06-2025 I assume it's a formality attached to legal requirements. The code is about school closures, not opening. Sure, the media could only report opening but they are opting to instead report what the school or district is sharing, the closure. https://codes.ohio.gov/ohio-administrative-code/rule-3332-1-25 RE: Greater Cincinnati School Closings - Tiger Teeth - 01-06-2025 I got 13 inches over here in S. Indiana. Yuck! RE: Greater Cincinnati School Closings - Tiger Teeth - 01-06-2025 (01-06-2025, 03:55 PM)TecmoBengals Wrote: I assume it's a formality attached to legal requirements. As of noon, we had gotten like 6.5. Not sure how much more snow fell or anything but it looks pretty crazy. RE: Greater Cincinnati School Closings - George Cantstandya - 01-07-2025 Along with the reason TecmoBengals listed it also keeps people watching. Is your school closed? Watch this scrolling banner to find out. Had to go to the bathroom or looked away at the wrong time? Too bad you missed it. Keep watching but now some words from our sponsors. It is quicker just to look it up online and get the list from your city/county within a few seconds. RE: Greater Cincinnati School Closings - BFritz21 - 01-07-2025 Here's how the snow looks in our area. It is shoveled to clear the sidewalk, so it's built up, but you can tell that there's not much of a difference when you get away from the sidewalk into the yard. Meh, when I was a kid you had to stay glued to the radio for closings. And being AM radio it was as likely as not that when they finally got to where your school would be in the list there was a static outbreak. And the real pisser was when seemingly every district around you was closed but yours insisted on sticking to a two-hour delay RE: Greater Cincinnati School Closings - BFritz21 - 01-08-2025 (Today, 12:29 AM)Awful Llama Wrote: Meh, when I was a kid you had to stay glued to the radio for closings. Sometimes they'd say "school is on but no bus service," which sucked because you knew public schools were off and you weren't. I'd eat breakfast and listen for the closings. If I was lucky my parents already heard it before I got up and decided to let me sleep in a bit. But often I still had to get up because snow days also meant chore days in my house. :) RE: Greater Cincinnati School Closings - SunsetBengal - 01-08-2025 (6 hours ago)George Cantstandya Wrote: Same thing when I was a kid it was the radio we had in the kitchen. We got right around a foot here at my place this week. RE: Greater Cincinnati School Closings - HarleyDog - 01-08-2025 (01-06-2025, 06:41 PM)Tiger Teeth Wrote: I got 13 inches over here in S. We got a good 10" here, but I had some drifts of maybe 16" in the driveway, so that was fun. I don't have a snowblower because some winters I never even have to shovel, a broom will do the trick. Not on Monday, though. And there's more to come, apparently. However, after spending 2.5 hrs shoveling on Monday, and another 1.5 yesterday, I think that I now understand why so many men in my age group die from heart attacks each winter in the northeastern states. Too true. This was a wet, heavy snow too. I shovel in tiers, so if there's a foot of snow I'll take it in three bites, making sure not to twist. After 10 minutes I will go back inside for a rest. Takes a while but it's safer. |
