Late January Mock - SunsetBengal - 01-28-2025

In light of the sad Eric All news, the Bengals give Joe Burrow and the rest of the offense a fantastic gift in the form of the best all around TE in the class.

I'd take that. No S help or RB depth, but the harsh reality is we got too many holes to fill and only 6 picks.

I went with who I thought would be the biggest contributors on the top 4 players, with the options available to me at each round (without grossly reaching, of course). We also have free agency, UDFA picks and the wave of cap casualty cuts to wade through before the next season begins play.

I like David Walker but after he measured at just a tad over 6 ft and 265 I doubt the bengals draft an edge that small that early in the draft that's def not their MO.

RE: Late January Mock - Whatever - 01-29-2025

I'd be happy with just about any draft that saw us walk away with Warren and Walker in the first two rounds. David Walker is interesting. He might not have the length to hold the edge in the run game, but he definitely brings the juice as a pass rusher. Nash is a kid that I've looked at late. Raw, but I like the former QB pedigree. Nice job.

Admittedly, I was unaware of the length issues with David Walker when I ran this simulator. I too was intrigued with Nash's background as a QB and it brought back memories of Mo Sanu hitting on some deep bombs in the wide open Jay Gruden offense.

Yeah, his height/weight doesn't bother me as he's got a thick build to him. However, I did read that he's got shorter arms and that could hamper him, unless he has superb hand fighting skills.

I like the first two picks, don't know much about the guys after.

I see David Walker is coming from FCS and also converted from a WR to EDGE in college?
That sounds like it could make him a multi-year project...is that the case?
If so, I'd prefer to find someone who maybe has somewhat less of a ceiling but can more of an immediate contributor given the state of the DEs after Hendrickson.

His numbers have improved every season as a DE. This year he had 68 tackles (45 solo), 5 PDs, 4 FFs, to go along with 10.5 Sacks. He's built like a MLB from the mid-90s era.

I would sprint to the podium if Warren were available and same for Walker in round 2.

In FCS though, right?

Cordell Volson also was pretty damn good in FCS but has been mediocre at best in the NFL after 3 full seasons.

I know not every FCS player is the same, but this is where the true scouts will need to be able to assess if this dude is legit going to be able to grow into a good or better NFL player or be more like Volson.

Going of the Consensus Big Board, Volson was the 197th ranked prospect in his class.  He was actually a pretty big reach.  You can't expect a guy ranked that low from any school to develop into a quality starter.

RE: Late January Mock - CottonHill - 01-30-2025

I love Warren as a prospect and would be ok with him at 17. However, its never good to have to draft the same position after taking 2 in the prior draft. Especially a position like tight end. Bad drafting.
We also drafted two interior d lineman last year and are having to revisit that position early this year. Just not efficient roster building

Walker left the senior bowl after 2 days of not very good work, That's probably going to hurt him some.
