Cappa is gone! - jerrydmc - 03-03-2025 https://www.bengals.com/news/bengals-release-g-alex-cappa-bengals-roster-update RE: Cappa is gone! - SunsetBengal - 03-03-2025 I'd say that this confirms the idea that Guard is going to be a priority in free agency. RE: Cappa is gone! - George Cantstandya - 03-03-2025 Looks like the Bengals will take 2.25 million in dead cap (his prorated signing bonus) but save 8 million in cap space. RE: Cappa is gone! - TecmoBengals - 03-03-2025 Respect to Cappa. I appreciated he came to the Bengals, but he had a bad season last year and I support the move to cut him. RE: Cappa is gone! - Stewy - 03-03-2025 Dont want to make too much out of this, but this is a very un-Bengals type move. I know we have all been clamoring for it here AND this was prognosed by many of the outside experts, but when has that mattered to the Bengals? My point? Perhaps this is the first sign of Tobin telling us "We've held on to players too long in the past", and now acting differently. Will be interesting to see what else comes...or goes as it were. RE: Cappa is gone! - WeezyBengal - 03-03-2025 2/2 so far this off-season. Keep the right moves going. It's different as well because they are cutting players without having replacements already set up. RE: Cappa is gone! - RunKijanaRun - 03-03-2025 Hate to credit an org for making blatantly obvious moves, but this is Cincinnati. No such thing as low-hanging fruit. So yay team. Agree The Bengals have a long history of holding onto guys one season to many, or two. And yes hope the guy all the luck in the world but he had to go. I'd say there's more to come as well. RE: Cappa is gone! - StoneTheCrow - 03-03-2025 If the league doesn’t pull their bullshit coin flip scenario, the starters probably rest in the final game and Cappa may not get hurt. He was good at that point. May have cost them a ring. ![]() RE: Cappa is gone! - CJD - 03-03-2025 It was the right move. It's such a shame, because he obviously lost a step due to injury. When we first signed him, he was a quality starting guard. But at this stage of his career, he was never going to be worth the money we owed him. It's best to cut ties now and invest that money in a new player who hasn't lost so much ability to injury. Hard to confirm anything this organization will do until it’s done. I'm praying basically they get at least one solid NFL starter at guard in free agency, and two would be better. It would free up the draft a good bit to concentrate on defense which we need so much help with. If they keep Volson for depth ok but we need better there for sure. RE: Cappa is gone! - Synric - 03-03-2025 This was the second most obvious cut. Although it's not a comfortable situation how empty this roster looks...
