RE: Rank Our DTs (2025) - Clark W Griswold - 05-18-2025 One of the weakest spots on the team - G and S are possibly the only weaker position groups. Still, I ranked them 20-25 with the belief that Jenkins and Mac will take big steps forward in their second seasons. If they don’t then this unit could end up being bottom 5 even though Hill is solid and I liked the Slaton signing. I see this as a “clog up the IOL and let the LBs make tackles” type of DT group. RE: Rank Our DTs (2025) - Mike M (the other one) - 05-18-2025 I think Jenkins and McKinley are going to break out this year. I think we will be just outside the top 10 this year. The bolded are better than us IMHO heading into 2025, but if Jenkins and Jackson improve, we could be top 15. I have them 19th. RE: Rank Our DTs (2025) - SunsetBengal - 05-19-2025 I'm actually optimistic for the DT group compared to last year at this time, so I put them in the 14-20 group. Re-signing a reliable veteran and adding a true NT were both solid moves. If Jenkins and Jackson improve upon what each of them flashed last year, the group as a whole should be notably better. Same I f Jenkins and Jackson can prove that last seasons end of the year improvement wasn't just a flash in the pan? Hopefully it's gonna get better in the middle. And if Stewart and Murphy can both step up and improve the pressure outside that's gonna let the middle shine a bit more. Yeah, they have two proven starters and a pair of highly drafted backups entering their second year. I don't think they are an elite group, but they have a solid rotation. I get the lack of interior pass rush from last year, but Hill played out of position at NT a lot. RE: Rank Our DTs (2025) - THE PISTONS - 05-19-2025 Should be better against the run. As far as pass rush, they were bad last year. Hopefully the young guys improve it. RE: Rank Our DTs (2025) - Hammerstripes - 05-19-2025 Interesting that people are so negative on this group. I think Sletton will be a massive upgrade at NT and BJ is a middle tier starter at 3T. I don't think this is a bottom 5 group. Definitely in the 20-25 range for me. That score only gets better if any of the young guys take the next step. On a side note, I do think we will see the pass rushing interior line play come from one of the DEs. RE: Rank Our DTs (2025) - Clark W Griswold - 05-19-2025 FA DT Montravius Adams is visiting with the Bengals today but I really doubt he would impact anyone’s vote… RE: Rank Our DTs (2025) - WeezyBengal - 05-19-2025 NA It's impossible to say without knowing what you have in Jackson and Jenkins. Could be a bottom 1/3 group, could be a top 1/3 group all depending on those two guys. Will let you know after week 6 of the season. RE: Rank Our DTs (2025) - bfine32 - 05-19-2025 My Top 5: PIT WAS PHI KCC TBB RE: Rank Our DTs (2025) - phil413 - 05-19-2025 (Yesterday, 03:52 PM)WeezyBengal Wrote: NA Yeah I'm having the most issues with this group. Someone make a case for why I shouldn't rank them in the 2nd to last group, heck they may currently be in the bottom group but I'm giving slight projections to get them there. I don't either group is wrong, bottom 3rd of the league seems very fair to say. But for these polls I tend to vote on where I think they currently are, as opposed to 9 months from now. Jackson and Jenkins showed some promise last year and that is encouraging especially when those guys missed valuable time at the beginning of the season with injuries. It was encouraging but they need to take another step this season. Hopefully they both take a big leap. If they do, the DT position and defense as a whole will be much improved with them playing better. Yeah I'm pretty similar but I look at madden type profession. It's been years, but I'm OK with moving the young players up a few points from whatever they were and the older players with a slight drop-off. Neither may warrant it, but I'm OK with it as a projection. I can't fathom saying this group today is an average group even. I'm OK with admitting that a true NT should help some to cut the bleeding for the sake of having zero pressure in rush. BJ is a descent tweener starter. The position depends on Jenkins and I'm not just handing him 7 or 8 sacks but that's where the difference maker is. |
