A good day. Happy Birthday to the Bengals my favorite team with by far the coolest helmets.

Why are we celebrating this? No SBs, crappy organization, treating the City like shit and holding them hostage, consistently letting down the fans, letting the Steelers own them, etc. I could go on. Hell, they were so cheap that the players had to share jockstraps.

I'm kidding. They have improved some. Go Bengals.

"Yay, us", I guess, but I don't know . . .  this kind of feels like Stockholm Syndrome to me.

Googled for more information and got an AI response (may not be accurate):

Quote:Paul Brown's initial stake in the Bengals was 10% of the team. In 1968, he and a group of partners paid a $7.7 million expansion fee to bring the Bengals into the AFL. While he initially owned 10%, he later worked to purchase more shares and eventually became the majority owner. The value of his initial stake, 10% of the franchise, has grown significantly over the years due to the team's success and the increased value of NFL franchises.

Even knowing that there has been inflation, starting the Bengals for $770k 57 years ago was a heckuva deal for a team worth $4.1 billion now.
