I haven’t really followed the gossip wassap with Jermaine Burton? - Housh - 05-26-2025 And fluff pieces by Hobson about him or any inside knowledge? At his absolute best i think he can challenge Yoshi for WR3. But with Yoshi saying he’s faster i think we’ll see more deep shots his way this year so where would that put Burton who right now is a deep shot specialist? He needs to work on that route tree to beat out Yoshi or at least entice Zac to create packages for him. He could really be our Chris Henry RE: I haven’t really followed the gossip wassap with Jermaine Burton? - bfine32 - 05-26-2025 (05-26-2025, 10:04 PM)Housh Wrote: And fluff pieces by Hobson about him or any inside knowledge? RE: I haven’t really followed the gossip wassap with Jermaine Burton? - BengalsBong - 05-27-2025 I was hoping Yoshi would work on his long speed to get on top of defenses at some point. If he applies himself in that area and can take the top off a defense with his speed, then he would truly be a well-rounded player. His hands were in question for me when taking hits last year as long as he keeps getting better there, he could be very good. Hope he takes another step this year he seems to push himself to get better. Burton needs to just go thru the motions keep his head down and work hard till he finds his groove he has talent. RE: I haven’t really followed the gossip wassap with Jermaine Burton? - SunsetBengal - 05-27-2025 JB seems to think that Burton has matured over the past year. We'll have to see if it turns out to be true. https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nfl/joe-burrow-says-jermaine-burton-has-matured/ar-AA1FwkNz?ocid=msedgntp&pc=U531&cvid=0fadc016edfa4494b1b0dc84e3e9ef74&ei=10 Quote:There were a lot of things that went wrong for the Cincinnati Bengals in 2024. The defense was a shadow of its former self. There were sporadic issues on special teams and missed opportunities early in the season on offense. RE: I haven’t really followed the gossip wassap with Jermaine Burton? - Whatever - 05-27-2025 Zac said in a presser that Burton has been at the team facility outside of normal business hours, as well. Obviously, extremely talented kid that could be a massive plus for the club if he puts it together and is motivated this year. It sounds like he's doing the right things and approaching things with a workmanlike attitude. But I see better than I hear. RE: I haven’t really followed the gossip wassap with Jermaine Burton? - Isaac Curtis: The Real #85 - 05-27-2025 Yoshi has decent long speed but is not very shifty/polished as a track guy. He is more a Higgins replacement/backup than a slot guy. For me, WR3 is the slot guy,,not the 3rd best WR on the team. Yoshi is muscast as a slot. Though it can work if you move Chase inside. With Chase & Tee outside, Gesicki is our best slot option. But he isn't really shifty ir speedy. Another big slot. Burton, to me, was also drafted as Tee insurance as is more an outside guy than a slot. But we have seen so little of him, who knows? Charlie Jones & Williams are the shiftier/PR types in the squad, though Jones, too, was mostly outside in college. Make or break for Chuck Sizzle. But these guys are clearly WR5 & WR6 in terms of the depth, and Gesicki & Hudson also getcmore snaps. RE: I haven’t really followed the gossip wassap with Jermaine Burton? - Essex Johnson - 05-27-2025 Can't rely on him right now. He's definitely 4th 5th receiver on the bubble to make team RE: I haven’t really followed the gossip wassap with Jermaine Burton? - PhilHos - 05-27-2025 (05-27-2025, 10:10 AM)Whatever Wrote: Zac said in a presser that Burton has been at the team facility outside of normal business hours, as well. RE: I haven’t really followed the gossip wassap with Jermaine Burton? - CottonHill - 05-27-2025 If he can just keep it together enough to make it to Sundays, his ceiling is much higher than Jones and Yoshi, am he has a prime opportunity to feast with Chase and Tee. he has produced and shined at the highest level of high school and college, and has made some big plays here when the opportunity presented itself even with his personal life in disarray. Kid has it all in front of him and this is probably his last chance to mature. RE: I haven’t really followed the gossip wassap with Jermaine Burton? - 007BengalsFan - 05-27-2025 I hope Burton is able to put it all together. He could be a great #3. I have been disappointed in Jones. He has shown nothing as a WR and isnt all that impressive to me as a punt returner. Yes he has returned one TD each of the past two seasons but aside from that he has been fairly mediocre. Iosivas is more like a #4 or #5. He makes some nice catches but still drops too many contested passes. We need Burton to step up to the #3 spot this year. If Chase or Higgins gets injured, we saw what happened last year. The other WRs just couldnt step up. Hopefully Burton is that guy. Does he have the ability to understand the offense and run more than just 1 route at the NFL level? We shall see. RE: I haven’t really followed the gossip wassap with Jermaine Burton? - Bengalitis - 05-27-2025 Burton needs to be let go... he's not the 1st talented, immature bad dude we've had in this team... all have not ended well... yeah, Odell was something, too. We need someone reliable, not someone just "talented". Now it seems like Burton is making a concerted effort to atone for his mistakes. So much to the point that QB Joe Burrow is making Burton's efforts known by mentioning in his recent media interview. RE: I haven’t really followed the gossip wassap with Jermaine Burton? - BengalsLUFC - 05-27-2025 If JB puts it together and it’s a big if TBH we are talking about a WR1 level potential for most teams. Yoshi couldn’t lace his cleats when it comes to overall talent. I still expect him to do something stupid and end up getting cut before the season starts but it’s good to hear he’s at least trying to make an effort to build bridges. RE: I haven’t really followed the gossip wassap with Jermaine Burton? - ochocincos - 05-27-2025 Ahh, another guy for the Bengals to use as the "deep route" guy, much like Bengals tried to do with John Ross. Both Ross and Burton had red flags (different reasons), both basically nothing for their rookie years. Who ends up having more yards in their first four years as a Bengal - Ross or Burton? Ross (4 seasons) - 963 yards, 11 TDs Burton (1 season) - 104 yards, 0 TDs RE: I haven’t really followed the gossip wassap with Jermaine Burton? - Sled21 - 05-28-2025 (05-27-2025, 03:40 PM)SunsetBengal Wrote: At the end of last season, I would have agreed with you completely. Yeah, I'm willing to overlook his pitiful rookie season if he truly has matured a little and is now putting in the work. He's working on his own, that's great. Next step is staying awake in meetings.
